I often feel sorry for " bad " or " evil " characters.
Most of time, they're just deeply misunderstood.
One of my favorite is Carrie White, from any version. I truly think that she is not the one that have to be blamed for what happened...
I realy feel emotionaly attached to Carrie.
Another character is Samara Morgan from " the ring "
She was just a poor little girl with weird powes who was killed by her mother, yes, like Carrie, what she did was horrible, but i can't blame her.
The same with Esther ( orphan ) Alessa ( silent hill ) and many othera.

Edward Elric, because Fullmetal Alchemist (2003-2004) is a show that redefines cruelty in it's premise alone. I would summarize all the horrific stuff that happens to Edward but we would be here all day if I did that. The fact that this guy remains even slightly optimistic is a miracle in it of itself. Shine on you crazy midget diamond.

Captain Cragen on "Law & Order: SVU" seems lonesome. Actually at one point in the series, he says he is extremely lonesome.

He was so selfless he had not even thought about himself until he had to go on a fake date as part of an undercover 'sting.'

After that, he began to hire hookers just to talk and someone framed him for murder because of that.

The people who worked for him did not really seem to care about him or notice him, and he was always helping them.

That made me sad for him. He never seemed to get a break.

Cliff Claven from Cheers. Almost certainly an Aspie, whose only way to socialize is to repeat facts and statistics, faces only ridicule and contempt from his fellow bar flies.

Another character I feel sorry for is Mr Meddle one of the Characters from Enid Blyton's stories,
He tried to help people but messed everything up and people didn't want him around.

Definitely Meg Griffin from Family Guy. Maybe it's because I'm constantly getting told I look just like her, but I don't completely understand why she gets so much abuse on that show.

Milhouse Van Houten from The Simpsons. I think if I were a Simpsons character, I'd be him and I feel bad that he loves Lisa so much and cares about her a lot but rarely gets her attention.

Klaus on American Dad! He's always getting ignored and disrespected and he's actually one of the funniest and smartest characters on the show, in my opinion.

Also, Martha Jones on Doctor Who. Mainly because she seems to get a lot of hate in the fandom and I personally loved her as a companion. She was brilliant, I think :D

Poor Rory Pond [from Doctor Who]. He dies over and over [eleven times, actually], and just cannot catch a break!

Wizardmon [from Digimon]. He was a lonely traveler, finally made a friend [Tailmon], and became devoted to her just because she was kind to him, nearly drowned trying to help her, and then sacrifices his life to save her. Not only that, since he was in the human world, he becomes trapped there as a ghost and has never appeared again.

^Yes, I too feel sorry for the Only Sane Man.

Raven [Rune Factory 3]: She doesn't know who her parents are, was always alone, and thought that she was cursed so anyone she cared about would disappear.

Why is it that the Only Sane Man becomes the universe's punching bag? :(

Arthur Dent...oh my goodness, Arthur Dent. To explain everything he goes through would take many hours.

Lady Edith Crawley {Downton Abbey}

Reason: Her family refuses to accept the fact that she is more mature than her self-centered sister, Lady Mary Crawley.
