I've seen a few of them including the most recent. It looks like their is more to come from that one.
Has anyone seen the 60's crossover film with King Kong?
Yeah, I've seen all 30 of them, each one at least twice.
A lot of people who grew up with
King Kong vs. Godzilla seem to love it, but I don't think it's one of the better ones. (I didn't get into the films until after childhood, so I wasn't influenced by nostalgia.) It has its moments, and I wouldn't call it one of the worst from that era either. It's middle of the road. If someone was interested in checking out Godzilla films from the Showa era (1954-1975), I'd recommend they check out
Godzilla,
Mothra vs. Godzilla,
Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster,
Invasion of Astro-Monster,
Destroy All Monsters, and
Terror of Mechagodzilla before
King Kong vs. Godzilla.
(There's a great
Godzilla Collection DVD set which sells for about $20 and includes out
Godzilla,
Godzilla Raids Again,
Mothra vs. Godzilla,
Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster,
Invasion of Astro-Monster,
All Monsters Attack, and
Terror of Mechagodzilla. I'd recommend it to any newcomer who's just starting to get into the movies.
Godzilla Raids Again and
All Monsters Attack aren't ideal movies, but the rest are terrific.)
There was a follow-up to
King Kong vs. Godzilla,
King Kong Escapes, which doesn't feature Godzilla, but I think it's a better film. Kong fights a villain named Dr. Who (seriously) and Mechani-Kong, who was basically a precursor to Mechagodzilla.
