Any Stargate fans still around? It's a little odd to think SG-1 is as old as I am. I like SG-1 best, then Atlantis, but not really a fan of Universe.

SG-1 is the longest show I've watched until Supernatural overtakes it next season. SG-1 had a lot of great moments. I loved that the story was like a video game RPG. What I mean is the humans start out very weak but manage to fight the enemies. Then over time they develop their own technology and become a force to be reckoned with. Seeing humans come from nobodies in the universe to slowly having great ships and everything was very cool.

I've seen some Atlantis and SGU. I think I prefer SGU to be honest but that's not to say Atlantis is bad.

Stargate: SG1 was one of my favorite shows. The other Stargate sereies' were also good. I feel bummed out that SGU ended without a resolution, and I'm hoping for at least one of the shows to be revived.

Loved SG1. Enjoyed SGA and especially SGU.

People complained that SGA was too much like SG1 then complained that SGU was too different. People moan too much

HUGE fan of SG-1----own the first 2 seasons----never saw A or U.....

I've saw the latter half of season 8, watched season 9, and then couldn't stop and catch up before watching season 10 because cliffhanger.

I'm now watching from the beginning on Netflix; I'm in the middle of season 2. After I've caught up again, I'll watch Atlantis - or should I interleave them, because they occur at the same time in universe? Is there a guide to watching them in such a way?

After this, I'll probably watch the films.

I'm a big Stargate fan. Out of all the science fiction shows I've seen O'Neill is probably my favorite commander. He's just great. I was so mad when Universe was canceled. Hopefully they'll revive the franchise again.

My favorite character was Lieutenant General George S. Hammond. The actor seemed more comfortable in his role than all the rest of the cast in theirs. It turns out that Don S. Davis (the actor who portrayed him) had been a Captain in the U.S. Army, so he was well familiar with military protocol and the proper way to wear a uniform. It broke my heart when Mr. Davis passed away in 2008.

Vala Mal Doran (played by Claudia Black) was my next favorite, as she seemed more complex, and thus more 'real' than the rest of the surviving cast.

Do people who like these shows give a crap about the movie?

Just curious. I know nothing about the franchise.

SG-1 was my favorite TV show...I love the SG-1 team and the focus on exploring new worlds.

I liked Universe a lot too. The impromptu political experiment was interesting, and they seemed to be trying to move away from Star Trek aliens. Too bad it got cancelled before the aliens bit could really get going.

SG-1 was epic, just recently watched the entire series again, loads of fun. SGU was good and had such great potential, I really wish they would start that one up again.

Really glad to know others liked SGU too.

I think SGU was a victim of Battlestar Galactica's success. Because BSG was so successful, the creator's/network/whomever of SGU tried to emulate that in the Stargate universe which completely changed the tone from the previous Stargate series. Between that and the fact that a lot of fans were pissed at SGU from the get go since they blamed it for Stargate Atlantis' early cancelation, I can see why it failed.

I liked all 3 for various reasons, but I could never really get past the way the writers took no consideration as to technology and the passage of time in each series.

Atlantis abandoned for 10,000 years but under an ocean with a force field. Okay, maybe it is 2,000,000 years old (inconceivable that any organic species would exist that long AND still be the same when they were already pretty darn advanced from the beginning), but the Ancients likely kept it maintained and updated during that time.

Destiny made no sense at all. Tech is older than Milky Way stargates. Tech is clearly older than Atlantis. So, the ship had to have been launched before Atlantis. No evidence of self-repair tech on the ship, but it's largely functional and going along when the drive system alone should have burnt out from lack of maintenance. Even if the Ancients build things to last, stuff wears out. Nothing in the show really explains this away, and it's a lot to ask viewers (who understand basic physics) to swallow. The best you can accept is that the ship is much newer than it looks but built "old tech" because it is more durable (e.g., vacuum tubes are sturdier than microchips)...perhaps has self-repair tech that's stopped working because it's out of raw materials, etc.
