I liked it, but it's in that odd category where most people's subconscious minds might understand it but very few people would consciously understand what it was about (maybe some surface themes but not much past that). I thought it was a fascinating movie but I can also see several reasons why a lot of people might find it very uncomfortable to watch.

I have wanted to watch this film for years.

Very memorable. Like a dream about disturbing things.

Been watching a lot of movies recently. Some highlights:

A Hologram for the King - this is a really nice, light movie about a salesman (Tom Hanks) who goes to Saudi Arabia for work, and has to adjust to the culture, in the process developing new relationships and gaining a new perspective on life. Definitely not "high art", nor is it deep in any way, but I really enjoyed it. I recommend if you want something light and sweet.

Los Punks: We Are All We Have - this is a fantastic documentary about the latino Los Angeles street punk scene. Essentially proof that punk is still very much alive and thriving, it follows punk kids and explores their lives and their involvement in the scene.

Louder Than Bombs - This is my strongest recommendation. This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. This is a deep, complex, novel-like look at a family in different parts of their lives - a father trying to maintain his relationship with his sons, his older son who is just starting a family of his own, and the younger son, who is an alienated, deep, conflicted loner trying to make sense of the world. They come together as an article is written about their mother, a war photographer whose suicide influenced the lives of all three.
