The Platform.

Tis political, gory and horrific but sadly resembles truth.

You Should Have Left

Horror film with Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried. It was worth the price of admission even though I saw it for free on a streaming site. The bluesy millennial version of The Clash's "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" over the end titles was a nice wrap to the film. Overall, wasn't bad if you're into The Shining which it reminded me of.

Finally watched Color out of Space - unfortunately, didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I found most of the characters unlikable, and those who were fine were just so - fine. That being said, while the visuals were gorgeous and I enjoyed the creepiness of the horror element, I wasn't invested in the main family's plight (particularly that of the daughter, who seemed to be the main character) so it was hard to feel super interested in the outcome. My favourite scene was (*spoiler?*) when Ward (the hydrologist, I think) and the cop went to see the old 'hippie' man (I think Ezra) near the end of the film. Whatever was going on there was sufficiently creepy and I was more interested by that than some of the other material. Oh well - still a fine movie, just didn't like it as much as I expected to.

For a truly disturbing movie on NETFLIX: Splice

I am sorry to have watched it even though I fast-forwarded thru many parts just to get to the all too predictable climax.

the 2010 remake of "true grit" with jeff bridges [no john wayne IMHO]. a bit of a disappointment, they made the mattie ross character just too damned mean for my taste. that was not in the book.

Saw it during its theatrical run and again watched it yesterday with my family.

A hilarious film with great chemistry between leads Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams!

Becky.

Story of a teen girl named Becky who is furious at her father for becoming engaged a year after her mother's death, and runs off when the fiance and her son show up at the cabin in the forest. As fate would have it, a group of Aryan Brotherhood members escape while being transported from prison, and are intent on finding something hidden away in the family's cabin. As the father's fiance is black, things only turn out worse for them. But what these racist criminals don't know is that Becky, who is still free in the woods, is a psychopath, and that they have met more than their bloody match.
Surprisingly good movie, with Kevin James doing a first rate job as the Aryan Brotherhood leader :!: .
