Anyone else like this movie as much as I do? :D

It's the cult classic from the 1990's about four high school girls in a Catholic Private School who dabble around with witchcraft and use it to get the things they want in life and to get back at the people who wronged them, but they later find out that there are consequences for abusing their powers.

The movie in a way reminded me of Carrie except it focused on witchcraft instead of telekinesis and it gave a message about how we should treat each other but unfortunately don't in this messed up world.

And the four characters were each sympathetic for what they were going through.

Warning Spoilers:

Sarah was the new girl in town who had a history of delusions and attempting suicide (I think it was implied she suffered from some sort of mental illness but was trying to get her life back on track). She befriends the other three outcasts and they introduce her to witchcraft by taking her to a shop in town. She uses her powers to cast a love spell on a boy in school who humilated her by lying about having sex with her so that she can get revenge on him by humiliating him in front of the school, but her spell backfires when this boy becomes obsessed with her and turns into a stalker.

Nancy is the leader of the girls who grew up very poor in a trailer park with an alcoholic mother and an abusive stepfather who was implied to have molested her. Tired of being thought of as "white trash", she uses her powers to cast a curse on her stepfather and cause him to drop dead of a heart after he attempted to beat her mother in front of her. And after his death she and her mother inherited a surprise fortune through his pension plan with the company. She also later becomes mad with power after invoking the the deity the four girls worship and she takes her power too far when she murders the boy Sarah put a love spell on when he attempted to rape her (but you have realizw he would have never attacked her if it wasn't for this spell she abused for petty revenge). Sarah begins to feel a lot of guilt about this boy and realizes she has to try and stop Nancy and the other girls especially when they try to kill Sarah for feeling that she betrayed their coven.

Then there's Rochelle, the only African American girl in the entire school who feels insecure and gets bullied by the other white kids, especially a blonde Queen Bee named Laura who straight up calls her the N word and is particularly nasty to her in diving class. Rochelle casts a revenge curse on her to cause her bleached blonde hair to fall out, but later when Rochelle sees Laura crying as her bleeding scalp continues to lose hair Rochelle is implied to feel disgusted with herself and as she looks at her reflection in a mirror her own reflection looks away from her. Also later in the movie there was an interesting scene where Laura spoke to Rochelle at a party wearing a really bad wig and asked her "Hey Rochelle, how's it going?" Which showed change in her personality as she would have never showed any courtesy towards Rochelle before.

And then there's Bonnie, the girl who had huge burn scars on her body that she hid at school with heavy jackets because the other kids ar school bullied her and made her feel ashamed of herself. Her mother was taking her to gene therapy treatments to try and heal her burn scars and Bonnie uses her powers to speed the process up and much to her mother and the doctor's surprise her scars appear to fade away almost instantly. She then gives herself a completely new makeover and change of attitude when she shows back up at school full of confidence, but she becomes increasingly self-absorbed after this and starts treating other people badly.

Yep, really liked this movie when I saw it (it's been a while now). Funny, not long ago we got the DVD of this in at the second hand shop I volunteer at. Four of us reminisced about how good the movie is.

You wrote about it well. Do you think The Craft had a satisfying ending?

I thought the ending was good, though it made me feel bad in a way. I thought that the four girls had a very good friendship until Nancy had to ruin it by letting her powers go to her head. And I thought Sarah was right not to be so quick to forgive Rochelle and Bonnie for trying to help Nancy kill Sarah even though I think part of them really did feel remourse over it.
