Has The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya been mentioned yet? Akira? Ghost in the Shell: Innocence? Texhnolyze? Serial Experiments Lain?

They're insane anime for sane people, the ones we're mentioning are insane anime for more-average-than-usual insane people :D :P

Then why didn't you just say so? Sheesh. I still think The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is only for insane people though, the order in which the episodes were shown was all over the place, it was madness!

Eh wa? Ergo Proxy is nothing like it! Ergo is just Sci Fi, Neon Genesis makes reference to Religion, Psychology, and Philosphy, it's meaningful, Ergo is just a bit of fun from what I've seen.

can be hard to follow though. specially if you miss an episode or 2. and actually look closely and you'll see some similaraties....like they both involve robots and monsters...and the main character is a bit of a whinger who sighs a lot

Yes, but we're talking here about anime where the script is beyond average madness, not anime where characters are beyond average madness :D

Fist of the North Star, excellent plot, well writtne main villian. But lets face it the main character essentially pokes people to death causing them ot explode into literally a bloody mess and just randmly will have nunchucks in his pocket from out of knowhere when thye weren't thee before.

I don't think Puni is all that crazy.
Papuwa and Dokuro-chan are a bit more "out there".
All good/funny anime tho.
