Beauty & the Geek 4
I have now caught up on all the new season's episodes and I think that putting a girl geek and guy beauty in the house is totally stupid. Already one of the other beauties has made out (at least) with the guy, Sam. Also, Nicole, the geek girl, apparently has a crush on one of the guy geeks. I watch this show to learn non-geeky skills, the gender switching is detracting from my veiwing pleasure and probably not helping the people in the house much either. I can't wait until they get picked for elimination and lose. Does anyone else have an opinion, now that you've all read mine?
ar i love that program. havent watched it in ages, i rekon its good, coz the non geeky people learn alot from the geeky people and makes the geeky people proud

I saw one season of that show in an all-day marathon one day when I was feeling sick. As a geek girl, I was annoyed by several things about it.
1) They were trying to change the geeks, not just so they'd have better social skills, but so they'd look and act "normal". Those guys didn't need to change! I like weird, geeky guys and I know I'm not the only girl who feels this way.
2) The show seemed to imply that geeky guys should be trying to date boring, non-geeky girls who happen to be pretty. I mean, the girls changed a little, but they still seemed dull to me. The guys should stay the way they are and date geeky girls, who will appreciate them. Geeky girls can be hot too! In fact, geeky girls can be hotter because we're smart.
3) I hoped that they'd have a season with geek girls and beauty guys because US society already seems to support the idea that the ideal woman is beautiful and vapid and that guys should be the brains in a relationship.
I don't know about having both genders on both sides . . . I assume they did that so that there'd be more action in the house. On one level, I don't support the existence of shows like this, but if I didn't find it entertaining, I wouldn't have watched it all day.
I only saw one episode of a past season, I guess. I can't really make sense of the setup you're describing. But in the episode I saw, I just felt sorry for the poor geeks. The girls were just making fun of them and the guys didn't seem to have a clue what was going on. I don't even know what would possess someone to be on a show like that. Even if you get the girl, you lose, 'cause she's too stupid to be any sort of decent companion.

I think that some of the girls on the show are really willing to learn how to be less vapid and become well-rounded human beings. One of my favorite things to do is read the descriptions of the people when they are being interviewed, they are really funny. I think this season one guy is described as a LARPer and one girl is apparently the ultimate Hooters girl. I think there's also a babysitter and a guy with a 5.0 GPA at MIT. They are just so random and funny. The judging criteria must be fascinating. I don't think that they will be able to make the geeky girl look pretty like they can with the guys, I think she's just never going to be the "hot" girl, no matter how much makeup they use. Contact lenses would probably help.
Or are they just showing off for the camera? I mean, I'm sure some of them are sweet... or... something. But how could a person with an honest desire to learn, make it to twenty-some years old and say things like "I don't read books" when asked "Who wrote Beethoven's fifth?"
Yeah, no kidding! It's not just a matter of finding dumb and smart people, it's also people who routinely say very laughable things and are easy to make fun of.
Really? I don't think she's beyond help at all. You should see the difference between what I look like when I roll out of bed in the morning and when I'm going out. I think almost all girls can be reasonably pretty with the right help. Guys' appearances seem a bit less flexible to me. Then again.... all those girls are going to be half-naked, if I know the CW... and geek girl probably can't compete with that.

if geeky gals were on that show then they would have made much better makeover than those guys.coz a makeover works well and be visible only if he has messy hair and dress where for gals there plenty of thing to do which can make a gal look hotter
