Last night we ran:

Animal Crackers [1930]
<=>"Filmdom's Four Funniest Fools!"

The kind of zany genius I expect from the Marx Brothers!

There are allegations of people eating pet cats and pet dogs and
Animal crackersI chose this film because I figured those people might want some crackers, too!

Empire Of The Ants.

I first saw this movie about giant mutant attempting to take over Florida when I was a kid at the drive-in, during which time I thought it was incredible. As an adult, I feel it's incredibly awful! Well, it stars Joan Collins.

Reagan

Biopic of the former President.

Old fashioned movie in which the bad stuff is deemphasized and the good stuff is emphasized which fits the man they were profiling.

Somewhere in Queens (2022) on Hulu (2023)

Ray Romano co-wrote, directed, and starred in this film.

IMDB Description wrote:
Leo and Angela Russo live a simple life in Queens, surrounded by their overbearing Italian-American family. When their son 'Sticks' finds success on his high-school basketball team, Leo tears the family apart trying to make it happen.

It was in my Hulu queue since 2023, but I had other things to watch. Today seemed right, I really enjoyed it.

Last week I was watching Hallmark Mysteries, and Hallmark families often put me off a bit and I realized it is because it was the kind of family, and life, I did not experience growing up. Somewhere in Queens is closer to the world I'm familiar with. The family relationships are aggravating and messy.

Ray Romano is a very good actor. I have not seen him in a lot of things, but I always enjoy his performance.
Laurie Metcalf also provides and excellent performance as a clingy, overprotective, overbearing mom. I forgot she was an actress and had a bit of PTSD reacting to her character.
The whole family is overbearing, except of Leo and his son.

I really enjoyed this film.

I found this YouTube review that I agree with.

Friday The 13th,A Nightmare On Elm Street.
I've seen every single film of those now except A Nightmare On Elm Street remake.

I've also seen Evil Dead remake/reboot and the 2nd Evil Dead remake/reboot.
They are terrible compared to the original three Evil Dead films.

I've also seen the latest Halloween film, and I got all the others to watch.

Civil War.

Photojournalists at the end of a civil war in near future America race to Washington DC to get the last words of a Trump like President.
Not as bad as I was told it would be.

I have been watching Haley Dean Mysteries on Frndly, the Hallmark Mysteries channel.

I had Frndly record eight movies over the weekend. There are a total of thirteen films so far in the series.

There is so much I want to write about this , but I'll simply leave it at I enjoyed them as Hallmark Mysteries.

Okay. I'll add this, a sample of dialog from the thirteenth film (they did not show them in order and they skipped some).

Nancy Grace is on the television as herself. The police are watching her. She reports details about the current case they are working on and the arrest of the suspect.
One person asks: "How did Nancy Grace get that information so quickly?"
Someone else replies, with an air of admiration: "Cause she's good at her job."

Nancy Grace is credited as a cowriter of the films, and she produced them. <insert head slap here>

I've seen it dozens of times since the 1970s but I like how it addresses the stigma of puberty = psychosis for girls. My partner and I were debating whether Tommy really grew to like Carrie or not. I think he did. He said he was only playing along to get laid by Sue and to get attention, even though he didn't know what would happen.

It's also cool because my first memory is of trying to do telekinesis as a toddler.

Last night we watched:

Bell Book and Candle [1958]
<=>"A bewitching comedy about an enchanting subject!"

Perhaps not great, but definitely good.

According to the IMDb trivia about this film it was James Stuart's last appearance as a romantic lead. Apparently he was agreeable to that because the age difference between him and the female leads was getting wider and wider. In this film, for instance an attractive witch half his age used magic to steal him from his fiance...also half his age.
