The first time I saw this without Raymond Burr, sometime in 2006, I was amazed at what a great film it was. Godzilla, King of the Monsters is good/okay, but Gojira is amazing. I know the year because shortly after seeing it, probably on Turner Classic Movies, I bought it on Amazon and that was September 3, 2006.

I also really enjoyed Godzilla Minus One. It is not available on DVD until November, but I've pre-ordered it.

That said, my appreciation for anything Godzilla came late in life, maybe in my late twenties. In the 1970s, a friend with a similar interest in horror films, loved Japanese monster films. Godzilla was fine, but my love was with model animation like King Kong, Son of Kong, Mighty Joe Young, or basically anything animated by Willis O'Brien or Ray Harryhausen.

Perhaps I'll watch Gojira tonight instead of Killer Klowns from Outer Space on Svengoolie (MeTV).

Friggin love Godzilla, rewatched the 1954 original last night. Honestly that's still the best one.

I've loved Godzilla ever since I was a kid in the 2000s when it seemed like Sci-Fi Channel would air marathons of Godzilla films pretty much every weekend.

Last night I finally found my DVD of Gojira. I'm currently watching it. It is so good.

I've only seen one Godzilla movie. It was Mothra vs Godzilla. I didn't see the beginning because I was visiting my parents and happened to come across it while flipping through the channels. But I decided to watch it and it was enjoyable in a kind of weird, cheesy kind of way. At the end Godzilla was defeated when these two giant silkworms, they were Mothra's children, I think, sprayed him with silk and made him fall into the ocean. The humans were all happy until the sequel.

Really, Godzilla can survive being hit by all kinds of nuclear weapons and bombs and missiles, in fact they make him more powerful, but in the end he's defeated because he had thread shot at him. He should have just said, "Oh no, I'd better get away before those giant green worms make me a kimono!"

But seriously, I know Mothra vs. Godzilla is one of the more popular Godzilla movies. I also noticed Mothra looks a lot like Butterfree from Pokemon, only gigantic and not as cute.

Takashi Yamazaki, the director of Godzilla Minus One, has announced he'll be directing a new Godzilla film.
There doesn't appear to be any more details at this time.
