Dune Prophecy.

Taking place over a thousand years before Paul Atreides, this is the story of the rise of the Bene Gesserit order as a political power at the hands of two Harkonen sisters, and how they plan to breed the universe' superbeing. Intrigue includes the emperor and his daughter who's been married into a political marriage with a nine year old(!), as well as an imperial veteran who had been the sole survivor of a battle on Arrakis, and who seems to have machinations of his own that include the sandworms.
So far, it's capture my attention.

Gentleman Jack, season 1

Very well done I think. Those Victorian furnished rooms and clothes must have taken a lot of work and money to put together. Nice colours. It knocks a hole in the stereotype that Victorians were 100% against homosexuality. The plot's quite good. Too many characters for me to remember very clearly, but I retained enough to follow the gist of what was going on.

One criticism is that it gets a little bit too salacious at times. It doesn't go any further than heterosexual shows often do, and I'm comfy with public displays of affection, but I don't want to watch people snogging and otherwise getting sexual with each other.

I'm gonna watch Tin Star later

I've watched it before but it's a lot of fun, completely far fetched and quite action packed plus it ends up in Liverpool and Southport in the last series so I like to see places I've been so I can point at the telly and shout "I've been there"

Episode 5 of Tin Star

It's actually not as action packed as I remember it to be but it's still bloody good once it gets going a bit

Last night we finished watching our way through season 2 of The Orville [2017–2022].

Like season 1, it is excellent television and excellent science fiction.

Visually, it appears to have been inspired by Star Trek.

Storywise, it is better than Star Trek.

The Orville has plot points that make you think, and make you think thought went into its writing.

Season 1 wasn't too popular, I gather, but Seasons 2 and 3 were. Don't know whether the content found its feet or the audience did. I haven't seen it but it's now on my list to take a shufti* at it. I like stuff that makes me think.

*Shufti: English military slang dating from the 19th century colonial period, from the Arabic shufti = "have you seen?"

The camerawork is a bit stark. Just bear with that. And visually it reminds me of Star Trek...but both are "nice" military in spaceships, I guess that constrains things.
