My mom thinks Spongebob has Asperger's. We brainstormed a list of reasons why:
1. He's very innocent and naive, despite the fact he's an adult.
2. He has special interests (jellyfishing and fry cooking)
3. He tries to be friendly but most of the other characters just write him off as annoying.
Spongebob is probably my all-time favortie cartoon character! I also believe that he is an Aspie.
There are so much evidence you can find from just watching the show:
Spongebob is unable to pick up on the fact that Squidward doesn't want to play with him, Spongebob just goes on happily sharing his interests with him.
There are many occasions where he gets really upset from even the smallest changes. He needs things to be in perfect order.
Despite looking like he is pretty clueless and goofy, he is very talented at math (along with Jellyfishing, Fry Cooking, Karate, etc.)
I'm sure there are many more examples. I don't think that it is a coincidence that I can relate to him so well
