I know, everyone is thinking it. This socially inept, logically thinking insomniac is basically a textbook case of ASD, don't you think? His short time on the anime/manga makes it obvious. I've even been sitting like him and chewing my thumb since the second grade.

What do you think, fans of Death Note?

Socially inept, insomniac, eccentric, smart, a logical/literal thinker, etc.

Well he's supposed to be able to read people perfectly. So aside from that, I guess so.

a lot of aspie traits, but one issue. He handcuffed himself to Light so he would not give light a chance to be kira if it turned out he was. Now yes that would show that he is obsessive but generally aspies don't like touch. hard not to touch occasionally if you are handcuffed together

Well, not all Aspies are alike. I don't have much sensory problems, Alex, and Storm, he was wrong about Light, wasn't he?

When was he ever wrong about Light?

L being an aspie has to be one of the most common anime related threads on this site.

Near and L both seemed pretty aspie-like to me. Especially when Near has to ask his handler to fly all the way to where he is just so he can book a flight for him, as Near admits he can't figure out how to book his own flight.
L and Near both enjoy stacking things, which is more autistic than aspergers. They seem to have SOME kind of touch issue, which is why L doesn't wear socks, and Near only wears pajamas. Also, as for not liking touch, remember that the handcuffs L and Light wore had a very long chain.

I watched Death Note for the first time last winter, and I definitely related to L in certain aspects. I have to sit a certain way (cross-legged in my case) when I'm on a couch or chair. I hate shoes and socks and only wear them when I have to. And my clothes tend to be a bit baggy, because I can't stand them to be too tight. And of course, I'm a genius too. :P

Oh god, the Wammy House kids are just plain epic. I made a Roleplay with my friend a few years ago based on that house. Death Note is an amazing and brilliant anime.

It was the most efficient solution. Sometimes you have to grit your teeth and get the job done, no matter how unpleasant...

I wouldn't be surprised if he was. L certainly shows a lot of the traits and you don't necessarily have to have all of them to be one. L might be able to read people perfectly and it doesn't seem Aspie-like, but maybe he had learned that skill at the Wammy House?

It would make a lot of sense if L was an Aspie, though. Light is a textbook example of a sociopath, and I've heard somewhere, that sociopathy and Asperger's are basically opposites of each other.

On another note (haha, note), I absolutely LOVED Death Note. One of the only anime/manga that kept me in suspense the whole entire time. I couldn't stop myself from watching episode after episode and reading chapter after chapter. I want to get one of those Death Note notebooks, it would certainly be a creative way to vent out your anger.
