Seems a question like this pops up every so often, I guess I will say some of my current favorites.

Kanon 2006
Fairy Tail
Black Rock Shooter
Clannad
Toradora
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Hayate no Gotoku

And if I had to note some good current airing ones (the ones to look out for), there is
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!

And Sword Art Onlineis all the rage at the moment.

I think my current series number is at about 250 now.

I don't watch a great deal of anime despite my forum name. My favourites are Trigun, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and Akira.

Ghost in the Shell
Death Note
Initial D
Dragonball (all of them)
Cowboy Bebop

I'd include Inuyasha, but the ending sucked so bad that it pissed me off. Likewise, FMA's final episode (first series) seemed a little too poorly written for what was an otherwise excellently developed series. I never saw the next series though, so maybe I missed something.

Y'know, I felt the same way about the ending of Tiger & Bunny. It seemed like they really half-assed the ending of a series with great build-up. The ending raised more questions than answers. And then they decide not to do a second season, but a series of movies, the 2nd or 3rd of which is supposed to pick up where the TV series left off. I noticed that Madoka Magica is doing the same thing, having movies pick up where the TV series left off instead of a 2nd season (though Madoka Magica's TV ending was a lot more satisfying than Tiger & Bunny's). It really irritates me that I've finally found anime that I'd be willing to watch multiple seasons of, but then they decide to finish it off with a movie trilogy instead. Mostly for the fact that I'm worried that the movies won't get licensed in the US like the TV series were.

Sorry for rambling. ^^;

Except the first and second Madoka movies are just m versions of what happened in the tv series, leaving only the third movie with new content. I checked some of the trailers for the first two movies already, and it mostly looked like just slightly improved graphics. But Madoka was largely a complete story, I am not sure what else they wat to with it.

1. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (both seasons)
2. Black Lagoon
3. Fullmetal Alchemist (original series; I sadly haven't really been able to get into Brotherhood)
4. Cowboy Bebop
5. FLCL
6. Paranoia Agent
7. Samurai Champloo
8. Death Note
9. Neon Genesis Evangelion
10. Eden of the East

I wish Canadian TV showed as good a selection of animes as [adult swim]. That's one of the few things I really miss about the States. I can remember they used to show Death Note, Bleach and Naruto (along with Invader Zim, oddly enough) when I first moved here, but they stopped a few years back and now I can never find any animes on TV here.
