In all honestly, I had stopped watching it in the first season, then recently when I tried watching it again, I was so lost I gave up on it.

I enjoyed seeing her character. I was hoping the show would go on for a long time.

Some of my friends who work in the industry are hinting that fictional characters on the Autism spectrum are no longer "fashionable" to TV and movie producers. They say that any portrayal of a severely autistic person is compared unfavorably to Dustin Hoffman's portrayal of "Rainman", and that portrayals of milder cases make the character look simply sociopathic.

Too be honest it wasn't a very good show. It could have been great, the premise was, but in the end it failed miserably. And the only reason I watch it was because of a character on the spectrum, Sonya Cross played by Diane Kruger, otherwise I would have skipped on it.
I remember seeing the original Swedish show Bron (The Bridge is the American remake) and it was a little better, at least for the first two seasons, 3rd one was bad.

Which version are we talking about? The original or the Amercian one? I heard they had to write Kim Bodina out of the script because he disagreed with the way his character was being developed. Hope that's not the one that's been cancelled.

It's the American version that is getting cancelled.

TV is over-rated.
I can't be bothered usually.

Oh no. I really liked this show! I like Sonya a lot too; she was a pretty positive representation of us.

Both her and Sheldon Cooper.

I don't think Sheldon is. He is very stereotypical and enforces the belief that we're...well, like him! (or Rain Man). Autism is what makes his character. The Bridge, on the other hand, never focused too much on the fact she was autistic. She was and that was that. We could see her being "weird" or stimming and it wasn't a big deal. Sheldon's autism is used as comedy and Sonya's as an actual way to explain her.

I think while Sheldon is a blatant stereotype - meaning that he never truly resembles any real person - he's still a positive character representing us, despite his irritating ways. After all, he's a successful theoretical physicist, has a circle of friends who more or less accept his quirks, and now has a girlfriend.
