Is anyone on WP a Simpsons fan? I'm just wondering so we can talk and discuss about the show. I know the show has less fans and not nearly as popular as it was this time 20 years. But I'm still a big fan and like the new episodes still.

I still find it to be a decent show. Nowhere near what the golden era displayed, but it still provides some laughs. It definitely doesn't have the tearjerkers it used to, though.

Yeah. I like the new episodes but my biggest problem with them is the voice acting. I think during the last few seasons the acting was gotten worse. It might be just me thinking that. I don't know.

Some voice actors have declined more than others. Kavner sounds really bad now, and Cartwright's Bart voice is often way too high. Castellaneta is still pretty good, though.

And Smith is pretty good too I think. But I always thought of the decline is a mixture of they just don't care anymore and they getting up there in the ages and their voices are aging.

What do you think of season 28 so far? I haven't seen anything I would consider a 5/5, but There Will Be Buds was a solid 4/5.

I think it was a good season. But the most disappointing episode for me was Kamp Krustier.

I enjoy the older seasons. Basically 1-8, but the next few after that have some good ones, too.

Do you still watch the new ones though?

Simpsons fan right here!

There are some things I've been questioning about the show for years, and I was wondering if we could discuss them in this thread.

1. If Bart is supposed to be popular and cool, why is he best friends with a kid like Milhouse? And why does he get bullied so much by Nelson and the other bullies? I think Bart should be seen more hanging out with Louis and Wendall.

2. What is the point in Maggie? Sometimes when I'm watching I feel there's only 2 Simpson children, not 3. I often wish Maggie was more active, and maybe even a bit older, like 3 years old perhaps. It's as though the creators kind of regret having Maggie as a character, but are stuck with her. Obviously there are some episodes where Maggie is more active, but mostly in the earlier seasons.

I still love this show though i agree that the older seasons were better. I also love the movie from 2007.

I think the characters get a bit drastic in the later seasons. For example, Skinner was always governed by his mother, but in the later seasons his relationship with his mother gets a bit over the top even for a cartoon show. As a cartoon the Simpsons was still quite realistic, but in the later seasons it gets a bit too exaggerated and unrealistic most of the time.

Seasons 1-10 were the more realistic ones, and seasons 11-14 were noticably changing but still had the realistic quality, and season 15 and after were completely different to the first 10, kind of like more far-fetched. But I still love the show and the later seasons are still worth watching again and again.

I think the difficult part about the show is that all these characters were created in the late 80's but they don't age or change at all so it's difficult to fit them in with modern times. Things have changed a lot in our society since the 80's and 90's.
