Ah. A man after my own heart. (Like all of the above, except "The Green Green Grass" because I don't know it.)

(My most recent new favourite is Deep Space Nine.)

I watched that.

It was ok, but I'm not really a fan of spinoffs.

Hmm.... I guess if people put some real effort into a spinoff, it can be good. And if it's good, then it's worth watching.

Unfortunately, the makers don't often put enough effort in.

Fortunately, though, people seem to be putting more effort into spinoffs and sequels than they used to.

1. Mystery Science Theater 3000
2. Beast Wars
3. The Venture Brothers
4. Aqua Teen Hunger Force
5. Garth Marenghi's Darkplace

The last one I only know from the six episodes Scifi Channel aired last year, but I could watch them nonstop for a week and never stop laughing. Anyone in the UK know if number six was really the last one?

Isn`t MacGyver that stupid show from The Simpsons that Marges
sisters Patty and Selma are addicted to.

That's the one!

When asked what's the greatest show of all time, I have no choice but to say MST3K, for one simple reason: In a society where more and more kids are being left babysat by the TV every day, that show teaches something more important than anything on Sesame Street or Nick Jr. Don't just passively accept the garbage that the TV craps out at you - fight back just hard enought to pierce the BS and see the greater truth, and you too can acheive love through cynicism.

That's my philosophy. Transformers is closer to my "religion". I didn't list the old TF cartoon though, because to me "Transformers" is an amalgamation of several cartoons and comics since 1984, and I slightly prefer the story in the comics. Beast Wars, however, is a part of that whole, and #2 on my list since it's a strong enough stand-alone show that it doesn't require as much rationalization.

And, since Aqua Teen was already mentioned, I really should have replaced it with "TV Funhouse" as my #4. Comedy Central apparently axed it after only 8 episodes, but Robert Smigel crammed so much into them that I have yet to see anything more innovative and hilarious on so many levels. So many guys I went to college with would endlessly quote and discuss it that I'm convinced it primed our generation to take to Adult Swim as quickly as we did. AS should seriously buy the rights to it and make new episodes, now that they have more live-action shows and they're losing "Futurama".

Is that the British or the American version?
