Surely I can't be the only one who realizes what a pretentious hack he is?

I dont hate him, but I do find him smug.

I find him smug, ignorant, AND utterly untalented.

I think this quote from Quagmire to Brian perfectly sums up everything I despise about that pretentious SOB and his 'textbook liberal agenda'. Since Brian IS Seth.

And I knew this about him long before he made that quote

"Pretentious Hack" == Exceptionally talented and successful actor, animator, filmmaker, writer, director, producer, comedian and singer == "Talent"

Yeah ... I can see how anyone would end up hating on him.

He's a hack! Look up what a 'hack' is! His first show Family Guy was a complete rip-off of The Simpsons and his other shows like American Dad and The Cleveland Show are all copycats of Family Guy, proving he has no originality. Not to mention the fact that his "jokes" are nothing but endless references to TV shows and movies from the 70's and 80's that nobody watches anymore so a lot of his fans are laughing at references that they are too young to understand.

Yeah he can sing, and yeah he's made a fortune. Big f*****g deal! In Hollywood anybody can become rich without any real talent if they know the right people! They become famous and loved by fans because the paid paparazzi tells us that we have to love them and we as the public buy right into that propoganda!

And nope, I'm not jealous.

Sure, he can act the part of a total jerk in person, but he really has accomplished far more than you and I put together.

Hollyweird is not known for originality, nor is it necessary to have excessive talent to get your foot in the door.

But to work with the likes of Hanna-Barbera, the Cartoon Network, Adam West, Jack Sheldon, Disney, Fox, Walter Murphy, Ricky Blitt, Neil deGrasse Tyson, National Geographic, Comedy Central, Emma Stone, Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, and Universal Republic Records really speaks of more than ordinary talent. To also support Barack Obama, the legalization of marijuana, the Writers' Guild, and LGBTQ issues also make him into something of a heroic figure.

I don't worship the guy, but I certainly do admire his success and his inclusionary vision.

I really can't judge Mr. MacFarlane solely on 'Family Guy' alone anymore, since as far as I know, his input nowadays is minimal compared to all the writers and showrunners who actually produce the show. Compared to 'South Park' or 'Beavis & Butt-Head', on which Trey Parker and Mike Judge wrote virtually every episode, Seth is more like what Matt Groening is to 'The Simpsons', more of a figurehead and executive producer with less than a handful of actual writing credits. I'm sure he gives the seal of approval to every episode produced, but there's no way every single word of every single episode is an accurate reflection of the man himself.

He seems like a fine enough guy in interviews, but I just don't care for his work. I think he dwells too much in lowbrow humor; from what I've seen of him in live action, particularly in 'A Million Ways to Die in the West' (which I actually hated), I think he would make an excellent actor in Woody Allen-type comedies, or maybe even a good dramatic actor. That's as much as I can really say about him.

Kevin Spacey is an exceptionally talented and successful actor, and Bill Cosby an exceptionally talented and successful comedian. By that logic, guess we can't hate them either, since a person's worth is judged solely on their talent and success rather than any personal aspects...

I might would admire his standing up for gay rights and the rights of minorities if it wasn't for the fact that he's always mocking the southern states by saying things like "America is great, except for the south."

I mean yeah, I get it. People despise this part of the country because of the high poverty, inferior public education system, deep seeded racism and homophobia AND because they still view us as traitors to this country for a war that was fought a century and a half ago (ironic seeing how the original 13 colonies commited treason against the British Empire and that was somehow 'ok', but I digress).

But it still bothers me a LOT when people like him mock us on TV. I mean calling us a bunch of inbreeding racist confederate flag-waving rednecks isn't going to improve things in this region.

If he really wants things in the south to be as 'great' as the rest of the country then he should follow in the footsteps of activists like Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi.

I have a few comments of my own regarding "The South", but since I just spent a week enjoying southern hospitality among the intelligentsia of southeast Texas, I'll reserve (and possibly revise) those opinions.

Yeah ... us northerners can be pretentious and hypocritical about the South. We can be the same way about non-white, non-straight and non-native people -- and each other, as well!

It kind of reminds me of this quote:

"West is West, and East is East. Never the twain shall meet"

I think that the same is also true of North and South.

Just like in "A Song of Ice and Fire".

A man buys a horse. The horse has a luxurious mane that trails behind him whenever the horse runs. The owner spend hours every day brushing and grooming the horse, just to watch it run like the wind through the pastures and fields.

One morning, the owner goes out to admire his horse. He is shocked to see that a pair of barn swallows have built a nest in his horse's mane. In a panic, he chases the swallows away, cleans out the nest, and feverishly shampoos, dries, and combs out his horse's mane until it shines.

The next morning, the owner is greeted with an horrific sight. Not only have the two birds re-built their nest in the horse's mane, but two other swallows have built their nest in the horse's mane, as well! Pretty soon, the air is filled with their chirping and tweeting as they flutter and fly all over the stable.

The horse is obviously distressed by all of this, so the owner again chases the swallows away, cleans out the nests, and feverishly shampoos, dries, and combs out his horse's mane until it shines. Then he closes every door and window in his horse barn to keep the swallows out, but to no avail, for the swallows have returned by morning, and now there are three nests in the horse's luxurious, flowing mane!

The man is at his wit's end. He calls the local veterinarian and pleads with him for a cure.

"Yeast" the doctor said. "Brewer's yeast, baker's yeast, that stuff between your toes -- any kind of yeast. Get some and rub it into the horse's mane."

Desperate, the man complies. He gets some yeast from the local baker and rushes home. Then he chases the birds away long enough to rub some into the horse's mane.

The next morning, the birds are gone. The next day, too. And the next, and the next...

A week later, the man bumps into the veterinarian and asks him why yeast would keep birds from bothering his horse.

The doctor replied, "Simple; everyone knows that yeast is yeast and nest is nest and never the mane shall tweet!"
