Not going to look them up. Is this the NFL's appeal to female viewers?

You mean Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers?

They did better than the Stones 2 years ago.

This is the first time I watched the whole halftime show. Then again, I didn't have the remote.

I'd be fine with the game recap, stats, and analysis you get every week.

If you don't like Tom Petty, your taste in music is questionable at best.

Are you saying that wasn't soft music? I like my share of soft music, but this had more to do with having such a concert in the middle of a football game.

I'm just saying its good music and a much better halftime show than in years past. Are you saying you would prefer Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake again? Or Rolling Stones well past their prime? Or uh, Nelly?...

To be fair, a halftime show works best when it's a frenzied mess with a bunch of different acts that have to be switched with precise coordination.

Then again, I'm what you'd call a sarcastic Superbowl viewer: I pay rapt attention to the commercials and music numbers, but read Eyeshield 21 during the game.

My taste in music is pretty weird, yes :-)

I don't watch MTV and I don't look up random bands.

Ha... could be worse. For a Packers game half-time this past season, they had the Goo Goo Dolls perform, with girls doing contemporary dance in gauzy skirts and leotards. I think the only thing less manly would be having Elton John perform while Martha Stewart arranged bouquets for the cheerleaders.

You forgot about Oprah. You can't claim to have achieved the antithesis of masculinity without Oprah having been present.

I think one of my favorites was Paul McCartney. The band this year basically copied songs from other artists and made it sound worse. For example, the first song was copied from Kansas and I gotta say, Kansas sang that a lot better than this band.
