I've noticed I have a very hard time paying attention during a movie with a few exceptions:

-a documentary on a topic I like (psychology, for example)
-Forrest Gump
-most sports movies
-the old Disney animated movies (Lion King and older)
-the old Pixar movies (Finding Nemo and older)
-old school Bing Crosby films
-The Santa Clause
-Mary Poppins
-High School Musical

Anyone else have the problem of dozing off during the majority of movies? I even had trouble focusing during Star Wars.

No, I do not have an ADHD diagnosis and have been told in other situations that I focus very well.

Yeah, I have a very hard time focusing on movies, I'd say it's nearly impossible to watch an entire movie when I'm alone, it bores me, I can only watch movies when I'm with other people.

This is interesting . . .

my 11 year old son enjoys movies at a theatre, but when we watch them at home on the TV, he is usually bored.

Same with you....

Maybe because most movies today is boring, just visually stunning while the story is nearly non-existent. I'm talking about blockbuster movies.

I have a terribly hard time watching movies except those that directly tie into a special interest, have very attractive or interesting sets, or are musicals (can't help it: I'm a dork!).

When I watch a movie, I'm watching the sets most of the time. If I like a movie, the first and often only thing I rhapsodize on is the sets.

I am so often at a loss to name my favorite movie that I answer with my favorite book when people ask that question. The fact that I loved "Spiderwick Chronicles" (because of the awesome sets) tells you nothing about me. The fact that I loved The Tin Drum tells you a lot.

Nope. Never had a problem dozing off during a movie. Except when I worked the third shift and wasn't getting enough sleep. But, no, no problem paying attention to a movie and staying awake while watching it.

My dad however, he would almost always fall asleep. He had a real hard time finishing a movie he really liked. So he'd have to watch it in bits, based on where he left off when he last fell asleep.

I have the opposite problem of falling asleep: I can't sit still while watching anime. It makes me so excited that it's very hard not to move around. Even the usual half-hour episodes are too overstimulating for me, so instead of watching episodes in their entirety I wind up seeing bits and pieces.

I like Forrest Gump, those other movies or topics would make me fall asleep, I would try a movie that is a little more complex, the weirder the better is my rule

Anime overstimulates me to the brink of glorious insanity, too.

If it's a movie that I'm watching the first time and I really enjoy it I can sit through it. If I'm watching over again I have a hard time keeping my attention on watching the movie.

I'm face blind, so when two of the main characters have similar haircuts, similar heights etc., it's hard to pay attention to the story.

I've been trying to start a movie log, covering every movie I watch, for a year-and-a-half now. I keep getting distracted, though; last time I started it, I became annoyed by our gardener's mowing.

I would always choose tv shows ove movies, they are so much more to the point. It feels like such a commitment to put on a movie. Half hour tvs even better :)

Films are my special interest so I don't have this problem, I have over 500 films but I do agree that there are not many modern films that I can watch, all my films are catalogued and marked out of 10. Disney films are my other main interest so I love those the most-est, I have a similar problem with TV though, the only programs I can watch are Diagnosis Murder, Mythbusters and Whose Line Is It Anyway? Everything else just makes me bored, twitchy, fidgety or makes me fall asleep.

I have over 800 titles in my collection. The only trouble I have is deciding which one to watch.
