that movie had some amazingly animated hair, IMO. that made up for the times when beetle was trying too hard to be funny.

on the flight home: watched gravity (alright, easy to follow) and the grand budapest hotel (great, harder to follow, not least because subtitles were unavailable for that one)

Jenifer.

A Christmas gift from my wife, this film is based on an old Warren Magazine comic story of the same name, and is one of the Masters of Horror series, directed by horror meister, Dario Argento. A policeman, Frank Spivey, has to shoot a seemingly deranged man who is about to murder a girl. She has a monstrously hideous face, but a beautiful body, and is apparently mute. With nowhere else for her to go, save to a mental institution, Spivey brings her home, only to have her ruin his family wife by attacking his wife, and killing and eating their cat. When her murders and cannibalistic appetite become too much, he begins to realize why the man he had shot was going to kill her.
Not a bad adaption of a classic Creepy or Eerie horror comic.

Naked Lunch.

A fictionalized account of the writing of William Burroughs' book of the same name. After junky exterminator and aspiring writer, William Lee, shoots and kills his wife sort of accidentally-on-purpose after catching her having sex with one of his friends, he goes on a hallucinogenic, drug induced journey into the sinister north African port of Interzone. A land inhabited by male prostitutes, intelligence agents, drug producers, talking insectoid typewriters, and reptilian Mugwumps, Interzone proves to be the environment where Lee writes reports on bizarre happenings while playing and being played by both unknowable sides, in which his book, Naked Lunch, is created, attempts to rescue his dead wife's doppelganger, and where he comes to terms with his own repressed homosexuality.
First rate, truly bizarre Cronenberg movie, where puppetry is used before the use of CG in order to give life to those talking typewriter insects, and alien Mugwumps.
