The Messengers.

When a family escaping financial ruin in Chicago move to a farm out in the middle of nowhere in North Dakota to start over, the two kids realize the ghosts of the former owners are still there. And then there's the "too friendly" farmhand who shows up out of the blue... Are the ghosts trying to kill them all, or are they trying to save them?
Pretty decent horror flick.

I recall seeing that and thought it was not that bad.

A brilliant movie with great performances by Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine, and Ben Foster. Many people who have seen this have said that Hell Or High Water has "Oscar-worthy" written all over it and they are right!

This movie has been described as a "modern-day Western" and my late father {who was a huge fan of Westerns} would certainly agree.

The Monster.

A mother, suffering from alcoholism, is returning her daughter to her ex's house, when after taking a side road into the forest to avoid road construction, get into a car wreck trying to avoid a deadfall in the road, and accidentally hitting a wolf. Calling for a tow truck and ambulance, they come to realize that the wolf, hurt and bleeding already, was fleeing from something, and that they are not alone in the dark. Help comes, only to provide food for the thing in the woods. Mother and daughter, who have had a terrible relationship, rediscover their love for each other in their fight to stay alive.
Decent enough horror flick. Thankfully, they didn't use CG for the monster, but a combination of costume and animatronics.

It's not a bad film, as though it may be an independent produced gem never less it has it's in it's atmospheric feeling.
