Jeff Dunham is a ventriloquist with several dummies he uses in his act. My six year old absolutely loves the puppets, even if the humor might be beyond her still.

It's funny how things become mainstream over time. I remember when Harry Hill was considered left-field comedy and you were thought of as a bit weird for being into him. I grew up on him and Vic and Bob, and Peter Cook, Armando Ianucci and Chris Morris.

I used to watch The Saturday Night Armistice, with Armando Iannucci, and that was considered odd-ball humour. When I told people I watched it they'd either say, 'Never heard of it' or 'I don't like that kind of thing'. Now he's the darling of the BBC, especially with The Thick Of It.

I've only ever seen a full stand-up show live once so that might skew my opinion but I don't think so.

So Tim Minchin for me, although I could say Lee Evans or Eddie Izzard too.

Oh and don't forget Billy Connelly.

George Carlin (great dichotomy in quality though), Demitri Martin and Christopher Titus, and jeff Dunham when he's using Walter/performing solo.

I wouldn't say favourite because there are too many people tickling my funny bone atm. gotta recommend Ross noble though, completely ad lib and funnier than most well-crafted material when he's on. Sadly might not translate too well for the Yankees but still.

Also have somehow only recently come across the phenomenon that is the roast so a mention to Jeff Ross and various insult comics of America, it's pretty mean but if it makes ya laugh..

Milton Jones for the oddball one liners ;)

The Thick of It's brilliant, though. Malcom Tucker is my hero. Have a look for Time Trumpet.

I like most British/Irish stand up Milton Jones, Russell Howard, John Bishop, Mickey Flannigan, Billy Connelly, Greg Davies and many more.
Frankie Boyle absolutely slays me XD Life shouldn't be taken so seriously and he points it out pretty well.

Can't stand American stand up tho I find it's too dry and bland although Louis C.K is funny :D

George Carlin, no other. There, I said it. The man had pacing and a way of saying things that NO OTHER comedian will ever match. Plus he was the first to do so many things. He was hilarious, and no one comes close.

Indeed he was. What about the younger guys obviously influenced by him - Hicks and Doug Stanhope?

Right now it's Ron White.

Here is a clip of him talking about getting thrown out of a bar in NYC
