Batman Begins and 2001 A Space Oddysey.

i found the latter very dull. i couldn't bear to finish it.

tried to watch Carrie from a rented library DVD but it absolutely refused to play correctly. it froze every so often and i ended up missing like half the movie because i was skipping so much.

not surprisingly, it shat the bed at the prom blood scene. i could just watch it on YouTube, but the experience just is not the same for reasons i cannot quite pinpoint.

the dvd was cleaned and almost completely free of scratches. it's possible that the layers may have been coming apart, all the other dvds i have play fine in my player.

What is your opinion, Brother Kyle?

Excellent addition to Pixar. I actually guessed that Ernesto de la Cruz was the villain right from the start.

1980 horror film. The effects and gore haven't aged well, but it still packs enough spooky atmosphere.
An artist who has been tormented by lifelong nightmares has been convinced by her boyfriend to go on vacation with him, her brother, and sister-in-law, to escape the tension of her declining career, when she starts painting her nightmares. Flown out to a a deserted resort town on an island where the four will be spending their time away, the artist is convinced she's dreamed about the place. When she sleeps, people begin dying. She is insistent that the creature from her nightmares will continue to kill till it no longer needs her to exist, then it will kill her, too.
Note: this movie had actually predated A Nightmare On Elm Street by a few years.

Believe it or not this was one of the original DPP list of 39 'video nasties' in the UK.

I'll have to see it then.

^Is that the 1971 film about the 'Evil' truck? Excellent low-budget work.

It is about the "evil truck" and based off of a Richard Matheson story. Worth your time and it is only 90 minutes.

The tension builds quickly and at many points, you may not know what is really happening to the lead character; one example being that the lead character is imagining things given he is alone for most of the film's duration.

Mostly unseen, too. Makes it look like it is all the truck.

Just saw the Power Rangers reboot.

Actually thought it was better than the original TV show, but there seemed to be some inconsistencies (example: in the show, Goldar was a monkey in a winged gold suit, but in the movie, he's a monster made of melting gold). At least Alpha 5 isn't going "ayayay" all the time.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri.

Mildred, a grieving mother of a rape/murder victim, pays for billboard messages asking why the local police chief hasn't caught the perpetrator, yet. The police chief, William Willoughby, who is dying of pancreatic cancer, knows her anger is justified, but one of his officers, Dixon, an alcoholic racist, wants to silence her through harassment of her and her friends. The biggest surprise is who ends up being Mildred's best friend.
Very moving black comedy.
