I'm halfway through Eat,Pray,Love...I keep comparing it to the book. Julia Roberts is SO predictable! BELH...I would've loved to see Michelle Williams in it! or Andie MacDowell, guess she is more "age appropriate" for the role.

People kept telling me I ought to watch Napoleon Dynamite. I just watched it. I'm not sure if I should be insulted or amused.

I found it okay, but way, WAY overhyped.

As for me I watched (from recent to semi-recent):

Watership Down
Walk the Line
Toy Story 3
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
The Simpsons Movie

The Warrior's Way

Very fun movie to watch! It has very stylized fight and action sequences. Visually, very impressive. Not an original story, though (trained killer, gives it up, only to be drawn back, blah blah blah).

Inception. Hands down one of the best movies I've ever seen. I strongly identified with Dom Cobb, since we both keep dreaming about women whom we are in love with because we don't want to let go of the past. Coincidentally, I share the same birthday as the actor who portrays him. It makes me kind of sad that many Inception fans seem to have more love for Arthur.

I tried to watch that once, bored me too much to keep doing so.

Watched The Tourist yesterday, was good.

I watched the 2010 Nightmare On Elm Street yesterday. Pretty good...not as good as the original.

Mozart And the Whale and I loved it. I tried Rain Man afterwards but it was a bore and I gave up after 30 painful minutes.

Great film, that. Always make me sad when I watch it though.

Some things I've watched recently:

Inception - Pretty good as action films go. The ending was a bit predictable, but really, how else could you end that film?

Precious - Some really good performances. The mother's revealation about how she allowed Precious to be abused was a bit too self-aware for my tastes. My guess is a person who could let that happen could not have that level of awareness of her own motivations. But still, a pretty good film.

Videodrome - The last time I saw this was when it was first released. Still pretty gross. There are aspects to it that seem quite prophetic in much the same way "Network" was.

If You Could Say It In Words - Generally a pretty good film. The story structure is a bit weak and the film makers, when at a loss for where the story should go, seem to resort to having the characters kiss. The night club concert scene drags a bit and looks more like an excuse to feature a band. It also looks like it was shot on video while the rest of the film is apparently shot on film. Also the sound mix is kind of marginal and I had to ride to volume control through parts of the film. But that comes with low budget film making and it's pretty well done considering. But as for a character study, it is definitely worth watching.

"Five Easy Pieces" and "The King of Marvin Gardens" - Both films were directed by Bob Rafelson and are part of Criterion's BBS collection. These were among the best of the films in this series, along with "The Last Picture Show"

"The Passion of Joan of Arc" - This is a silent film that depicts Joan of Arc's trial and execution. Shot primarily in stark close ups, the performances dominate everything about this film. I thought the woman playing Joan over did it a bit, but certainly her performance was a good deal more subtle than many during the silent era. The excecution is quite graphic with long, lingering shots of Joan being consumed in flames. Kind of disturbing.

Last night I watched Se7en for the first time and I have to say it was not a bad movie. Kevin Spacey plays a perfect villain.
