It was pretty good. I'd held off on seeing it because of all the bad reviews I saw.

Good to know. I was mildly curious to see it but was turned off by the reviews.

As was I even though I'll rent it on DVD anyway.

Mary Shelley although i didn't finish it. I also hate polyamory so :?

I watched Mary Shelley as well and adored the beginning. I read her bio last summer so I knew the story and felt as if Elle Fanning did a brilliant job of such a sad story. I'll let you know that the film totally fell apart in the last five minutes, though. I was shocked that it suddenly just 'ended' with virtually 90% of Mary's story untold. Percy was a knave but I hope you've taken the time to read his work, as well as Mary's. His poetry was sublime.

I finished it and also loved the movie and Mary's relationship with Percy. Despite everything i still think he loved Mary in his own way and i'd love to check out his poetry too. Also it was fascinating since i didn't know Mary Wollstonecraft was her Mother and all the stuff with Lord Byron! I also liked Elle Fanning's acting and she was Super pretty too so overall despite my misgivings about polyamory i generally liked the movie!

Thank you for asking. I thought it held its own against the first one. If anyone liked the first one, I would recommend it.

Heathcliff was modelled on Byron.

There's so much to the story that wasn't told but I agree their love story was compelling. I'd recommend reading Mary's personal journals if you can find them, and definitely Shelley's poetry. He's the king of kings.

Cold Skin.

A British weatherman is left on an island deserted other than for a light house operator in the 1914 North Atlantic. Soon, the newcomer learns that the island is claimed by Lovecraftian Deep One type creatures who want to drive the two lone humans away. He also learns about the relationship between the light house keeper and a lone, half-tamed amphibious female. Even more significant is the identity of the light house keeper and the last weatherman.
Surprisingly, this was an extremely good movie. Highly recommended!

The Awful Truth (1937). I haven't seen it in about ten years. Irene Dunne and Cary Grant? How could it not be wonderful?

It's A Wonderful Life at the cinema on the big screen in black and white with fully restored sound

It was magnificent -- so much more visual detail and funny one liners than I've ever noticed before, and the anguish scenes were so intense that I sobbed, particularly the ones in his home with the family.

I'd see it again at the cinema tomorrow. Although I've seen it probably 20 times on telly / DVD this was bar-none transformative for me. It isn't just a Christmas film; it's a work of art. There was a standing O at the end, too.

I really hope you've seen Penny Serenade, too. It's a Christmas-themed film with Grant & Dunne from 1941.

Just, wow. I'm so happy for you that you were able to see it that way. And, I'm extremely envious.
