Well, it's been obvious to me since season 1 that there is some kind of shadow government yanking the chains of various terrorist organizations to do their bidding and to set agendas into motion... so is jack's father the Fu-Manchu?

Is it an Illuminatist sect? Masonic? White Supremecist?

And "the company" is clearly code for whatever is this secret organization is.

Naw, Bauer Company is code for Kaiser Sosei. Speaking of which, I watched The Usual Suspects recently, and at the end when the composite drawing is faxed to the police station, you can see ATTN: Jack Bauer scrawled underneath the picture. How COOL is that?!

I wonder if that is where the writers got the name from?

No. They were watching old episodes of Who's the Boss, when they wondered what would happen if Danny Pintauro's character grew up to be a super terrorist fighter, instead of gay.

Once upon a time, there was a CTU director named Bill Buchanan. He was facing a budget crunch. He had two employees, Jack Bauer and Chloe O'Brian, who were unbelievably good at their jobs. They were so good, Bill could only afford to keep one of them. Since he was torn between the two of them, he decided to evaluate them over a 24-hour period. The first one to take a break would be fired.

Well, 24 hours passed, and neither took a break, so that was no help. :D

Grasping at straws, Bill finally went up to Chloe and said, "I've got a problem, Chloe."

Chloe looked up with an exasperated look and said, "I said I'd have that list of suspects in the San Francisco nuking ready in 10 minutes."

"It's not that," Bill said, "You see, I have to lay you or Jack off."

"Well, you better jack off. I'm busy."

This is why he should lay off employees who are NOT good at their job. Or have Jack hold congres and the the senate hostage under they get a serious budget increase. (I think that witholding a self-congratulatory raise from congress for doing a piss poor job ought to be enough to cover either Jack or Chloe's salaries... :) )

Actually, I don't think Jack gets paid much. Since Driscoll fired him, Jack has only worked for CTU for about 55 hours (and counting...)

Oh, I am sure he has a NICE government pension covering things. But it doesn't matter, really, as the world of television is a world full of economic comfort.

"Chloe, It's good to have you back."

Jack's daily quota of sentiment.

Famous last words:

George Custer: Yeah, there's a lot of them, but they're just Indians.

Abraham Lincoln: I'd love a trip to the theater.

Julius Caesar: Hey, wassup Brutus?

Rita: CTU doesn't know I exist.

Oh, I am so irritated. I missed about ten minutes of the first hour because my local FOX News Channel decided to air a Breaking News Story about a shooting. I missed serious information because they decided it was important that we get a play-by-play with dumb eyewitness "make-you-feel-you-were-there" interviews. I-R-R-I-T-A-T-E-D! I know Morris ended up programming the nukes, but WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE THAT!?
