Underwater

So-so sci-fi horror film, basically Alien set in the Mariana Trench. They even had Kristen Stewart and another young woman run around in panties like Sigourney Weaver. Teen boys should eat this up; others, not so much.

The Seasoning House

Oy! This British revenge film is definitely not for the kiddies. In fact, the violence is so horrific it's probably rated NC-17. Basically, it's I Spit On Your Grave or The Woman set in the Balkans, 1992. It's not a bad film, but see it at your own risk.

Hysteria

A Hammer film made in 1964. One of their 'suspense thrillers', written as usual by Jimmy Sangster. Convoluted, far-fetched plot, based as always on the themes of the mid-1950s French film Diabolique, but with obvious elements of Hitchcock's Psycho here. For once I actually managed to guess the identities of the evil conspirators before the end!

Stars the otherwise fairly obscure American actress Lelia Goldoni, who is chiefly memorable in this film for driving a Triumph TR4 sports car. Almost everyone else seems to drive a flashy convertible here as well. Just like real life, huh?

The film is redeemed somewhat by the humorous sub-plot involving the private investigator, played by Maurice Denham.

I loved it, cecilfienkelstien: If something's particularly good, I remember where I was when the experience took place. I can remember the cinema/+row I was in when I saw 'Social Network'.

Mystery Road

Australian crime thriller with an aboriginal bent. Pretty good movie, but then, I've yet to see a bad flick from Down Under. Some of the thicker accents could take a bit of getting used to, though.

I saw Alice in Wonderland for the first time. The animated Disney version from 1951.

I liked it more than I anticipated. It amazes me how much The Wizard of Oz was modelled on this story.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Rooney Mara was good in this.

I wanted to see that.

I saw Train to Busan last night - very good! Inspired me to download several other Korean movies.

Goodtime.
The Safdie brothers make great films. Robert Pattinson is awesome in this.
