This was a really nice true docu-movie. I really recommend it, it's quite eye opening.

Vampyros Lesbos

Who was the worst film director of the 20th Century? Ed Wood? Russ Meyer? Roger Corman? Rene Cardona? Herschell Gordon Lewis? I reckon that in many respects Jess Franco was worse than all of these.

This film, from 1970, is actually one of his better efforts, but it's still pretty dire, with dubious acting and dialogue, and a disjointed plot. It's regarded by some hard core Franco fans as a bit of a cult masterpiece for its strange, 'hypnotic' music and dreamy, slightly surreal quality.

The vampire is played by Soledad Miranda, a Spanish singer and actress who appeared in a handful of other Franco films, but died the following year in a car accident in Portugal at the age of 27.

A powerful movie that depicts what suburbia can do to people; in this case five sisters in suburban Detroit in the 1970s who experience teenage angst.

Well worth a watch and has a short runtime of about 90 minutes.

Max Reload And The Nether Blasters.

Surprisingly funny, if not goofy, movie where gamers obsessed with cred and fame discover the ancient curse contained in an old video game thought long lost.

She Killed In Ecstasy

Released in 1971. I might have to revise my opinion of Jess Franco as the worst film director of all time, because this one, like its predecessor Vampyros Lesbos is really quite watchable and memorable in parts, unlike the tripe that he started to pump out a few years after this.

Soledad Miranda (under the name Susann Korda) returns in the leading role, as the wife of a doctor who commits suicide after being struck off for his controversial human embryo experiments. She then hunts down and kills the four people she holds responsible for his demise. Usually said to be modelled on Truffaut's The Bride Wore Black, but I wonder also whether Franco got the idea from Hammer's 1970 film Taste The Blood Of Dracula, which has a very similar basic plot.

Yeah, her character is actually killed in a car crash at the end of the film, spookily prefiguring her own death a few months later. Shades of Susan Hayward in 'Stolen Hours' as well, maybe.
