It was pretty funny, but I think the knife scene, the flour scene, and the cockroach scene were funnier.

My friend who HATES anime because he doesn't get it and says he can't tell the difference of the characters and it's really not his thing.
Well I sat in my room watching Azumanga (we lived together back then) and I would like the theme so I wouldn't fast track the episode. After 3 days he he was walking around the apartment humming to the tune singing "Cake for YOU!,fua, fua, fua, fua Tea for YOU!" ,.. then after a while you would her him yell "DAMN IT!", he had gotten the ear worm from the theme and coulden't get it out for days.

I wouldn't call myself an anime fan, but if I hear good words about something out I'll have a look to see if it's interesting. Most anime to me comes across as juvenile. Among some of my favourites are Grave of the Fireflies, Princess Mononoke, The Place Promised in our Early Days, Voices of a Distant Star, Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, Azumanga Daioh, and Last Exile.

Generally if there's a good dub I'll go for the dub, but some aren't very good. All the ones I listed above though I watch in English, with the exception of Grave of the Fireflies, which I prefer to watch subtitled. -

Out of the anime I've seen, I think Grave of the Fireflies is by far the most underrated. It's the only anime I've seen that I consider essential viewing for film and animation buffs.

Neon Genesis Evangelion, Azumanga Daioh, Naruto, Nodame Cantabile, Kiba, Welcome to the NHK, Monster, Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, K-ON

Probably one of the most interesting and disturbing Animes I've seen:

1. Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S, Sailor Moon SuperS, Sailor Stars (I'm a diehard fan, when I was 10 and now when I'm 16 :D), Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z (I used to watch)

I love the henshins and attacks in Sailor Moon. 'specially Rainbow Moon Heart Ache from S series. I also like the characters' charisma. :D

2. Subs for Sailor Moon most definitely; I watched the DBZ dubbed version.

3. Well, I can't answer this question because technically I'm not an ANIME fan, just a SAILOR MOON fan.

blackomen, I've been watching Monster on SyFy, and I think it's very good so far. I look forward to watching it every Monday now.

1. ****Disclaimer: I know Gundam/Gundam Wing fans will egg and T.P. me for this******
Series - Seed and Seed Destiny
Films: toss-up between Akira and Princess Mononoke

2) Dubs because I'm low vision and my eyes fatigue rapidly when I try to read and the glare from the screen wouldn't help things

3) I don't really know enough to say one off the top of my head

Oh, yeah, think I've seen a bit of Monster. That one kid is messed up, seriously.

I'm suprised that the girl's foster parents believed Dr. Tenma so easily... I guess they ended up dead either way, so doesn't really add much to the plot.

The really great thing about anime is the showing of emotions. When you see someone embarrased you just look at their head or the pink blush. In cartoons I dont see that really any where if its shown at all.

Some even go a step further with style shifts for different emotions, an interesting one has been Bakemonogatari, it's shifts can be quite interesting. One at the moment I am quite enjoying the show of emotion through facial and animation change is Kimi ni Todoke, which is having a nice aray of emotion.

I am trying to remember a show recently which had one character get so red from embarassment they looked like a tomato. It might have been either Minami-ke or To Aru Kagaku no Railgun, I know Kuroko has shown quite a lot of different emotional faces.

Haven't you seen Looney Toons? When Bugs or Elmer or any other character gets embarrassed, they all blush red.

I wonder if Hayate Ayasaki from Hayate no Gotoku is the anime version of Bugs Bunny, he even had rabbit ears for a bit, though it wasn't willingly, though it is also another of Bug's traits.

1. 12 Kingdoms, Fantastic Children, Kino's Journey, FLCL, Evangelion (Can't wait for the Remake! Even my non-anime loving BF wants to see it.), X, Captian Harlock, Haibane-Renmei, Last Exile, Rahxephon, Serial Experiments Rain, Someday's Dreamers, Insterstella 5555, Galaxy Express 999, Paprika, Cat's Return, Most Studio Ghibli films, Place Promised in Our Early Days, Millenium Actress, Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers
2. I am not picky...I tend to watch both. I prefer subs when my japanese skills are good enough to listen to anime and still process what is going on without reading the subtitles...but those have fallen off since the last year i have not seen any anime.
3. 12 Kingdoms....very few people mention it and its one of the stronger anime series out there.

I LOVE anime...i have seen a ton of it from a young age. The crappy edit of nausicaa (warriors of the wind) was the first thing...I saw that in theaters, been hooked ever since.

1. Loveless, Gantz, Berserk, Boogiepop Phantom, Evangelion, Gravitation, Mezzo Forte, Kino's Journey, Sukisho, Patlabor, Victory Gundam, Giant Robo, Violinist of Hamlin, Terra, Ouran High School Host Club, Kare Kano, Escaflowne, Macross Plus, GeGeGe no Kintaro

2. Subs. Although I will admit, the quality of English dubs has increased significantly since the horror days of the Streamline Pictures dubs.

3. I would have to say that I feel that the Patlabor movies are amongst the most underrated animes out there. I remember listening to many otakus claiming that they were very boring in their opinion. But to me, I found them to be very dark and intense, and amongst my favorite animes of all time.
