I’ve mixed feelings about this film. It’s a bittersweet tale that rapidly swings back and forth from despair to joy and seriousness to farce. The storyline sounds a bit dodgy at first. It's about a middle-age aspie man’s penpal relationship with a unhappy young girl living thousands of miles away, but the film quickly establishes that though the relationship is close on paper, it's innocent. The information on Asperger’s was good – though my abiding memory is the cheerful Penguin Café Orchestra’s soundtrack and the brilliant though grotesque visual design and animation.

Yes,the soundtrack was very good .I liked the movie although I didn't enjoy it as much as Adam.It certainly was original and the characters were very much alike despite their age differences.

An amazing movie. I borrowed it from the library, returned it the next day, and bought my own copy that night. It's almost painful to watch at times, as I relate to Max's daily frustrations in so many ways (except his problems with obesity--I'm a 140 lb. weakling). The DVD commentary track by the director is quite good as well. Very informative about his intentions with the film and how the stop-motion process was executed.

Incidentally, I had to walk through "snirt" on my way home from work tonight. :P

I saw it 2 days ago, I knew I was going to cry and I was going through a sh***y time anyway, so I actually took a tranquilizer before watching it. I did cry but not a lot haha
My 2 fav scenes are both suicide related, one is when the narrator is talking about the person who shot themselves and then you hear the gunshot, very raw and bad ass scene. My 2nd fav was Mary's attempted suicide.

I've seen it and loved it :D It made me smile a lot and also cry a little, and of course I was able to relate to many things. Loved the animation and the humorous narration.
