Where I live, it would probably be the 700 Club.

American Idol and similar. Anything in the Survivor family. Any of the ones that have sprung from the ashes of The Real World, which I also hated. All these cheap talk shows that everyone on the planet seems to get to host. And Oprah, she has way too much influence for a celebrity (and Oprah, come on, a magazine with your name on it and your picture on every issue? Really? Is it not enough to tell people what to read, what to buy, and what to think?).

Cheap kid's cartoons of every sort, where the reek of the writing team formula built demographic cut and paste poo pile smacks you hard in the face every time your kids tune and and don't want to change the channel... for example, Johnny Test, The Fairly Oddparents, George of the Jungle, Flapjack, Chowder, My Gym Partner is a Monkey (merciful executed already).

That's not to say that none of these shows ever had any redeeming qualities... I could even quote some brilliant lines from some of them. But as a rule, what you're getting is stupid parents or adults, crude kids or creatures, idiotic stereotypes, animation that fails to offer enough charm to compensate for its sheer willfull ignorance of actual human anatomy (Johnny Test's sisters need some kind of neck brace, something is very wrong there), shallow protagonists, some really annoying repeat characters that the writers obviously thought were hilarious (enough of Jorgen von Strangle, for the love of all things cartooned, let him die!), and farting, lots and lots of farting. I say all this as a parent, artist, writer, and cartoon viewer.

And Family Guy, because just when I start enjoying an episode, somehow they always go too far and kill it. And because of the Ralph Kramdenesque Peter Griffin. I also hate The Honeymooners.

And typical sitcoms of the Laverne and Shirley school... I avoid sitcoms now so for all I know they could be the same. Y'know, dumb characters want something stupid and unattainable, do dumb and irritating things to achieve it, humiliate themselves horribly, cry a lot, and act like it's okay that their ridiculous dreams were once again crushed before their eyes because they learned something from it. Oh, yeah, that's entertainment.

American Idol easily. While I see the point of reality and competition shows, they just don't interest me.

This of course excludes Mythbusters, which is technically a reality show.

I never liked Friends. I'm a Seinfeld kind of guy.

I've always disliked Jay Leno's brand of humor and - as a Conan O'Brien fan - I now dislike him even more. The only funny thing Leno had was Headlines and there's now a whole load of websites that do the same thing and better.

As for shows I actually hate, Jersey Shore is the only one I can think of. It's not even "So Bad It's Good" funny. It's just a train wreck of a show.

I don't have a problem with reality shows with a solid purpose. I know not everyone likes Ghost Hunters but I do like that one, because I'm a bit of a ghoul (and ghosts were an obsession of mine at one point, until I recognized that the whole idea scared the bleebity out of me and I made myself scale back the interest in order to stop being afraid of the dark...) and because they rather amuse me with some of their techniques. And chiefly because it seldom gets personal, as compared to other reality shows. I think that may be the main distinction between acceptable or not acceptable reality tv. If I feel like I'm being shown something that really isn't any of my business, it's awkward and just wrong. This person's marital problems, that person's fight with a friend. None of my business. And the set-up situations are just as bad. Creating a tense atmosphere and then filming the fireworks? Ugly. Life is complicated enough as it is.

Critically acclaimed:
- Glee (so watching lying, backstabby, hypocritical teenagers sing is supposed to be my escape??)
- The Office (used to be great; now lacks a compelling reason to exist)

Popular:
- Any and all primetime soaps (including Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl, and The Secret Life of an American Teenager)
- Anything that Seth Macfarlane has ever breathed on
- American Idol (I hate popularity contests)
- The Biggest Loser
- Jersey Shore, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and other spray-tan reality shows
- Baby/litter reality shows (including 18 Kids and Counting, Bringing Home Baby, I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant, John & Kate + 8, and Teen Mom)

I like reality shows that showcase actual talent without becoming popularity contests. Top Chef and Project Runway come to mind.

Friends - always hated it.

X Files- used to love it, now I hate it. What was I thinking?

Generic witchypoo @rsegravy... By which I mean, Medium, Eastwick, Charmed, Ghostwhisperer, and that travesty of an excellent movie, The Dark Half. In other words, most of the pulp "occulty" rubbish that is on scifi these days.

Speaking of which, since when does poorly written and clichéd portrayals of so called psychic events count as sci fi?

I hate the US version of Life on Mars. What on earth happened? The English version is brilliant... yours is just... horrible.

Oh... and while I LOVE Dr Who I can't stand Torchwood. Captain Jack Harkness is so oversexed that not even a potted plant is safe in his environs. It makes me want to heave!

On the subject of oversexed libidos, Sex in the City, Desperate Housewives... anything of that ilk. Just horrible. I was told that this is seen as "aspirational" television... in other words women are meant to watch it, and aspire to that lifestyle. What, maneater? Urgh!

-The fake 'reality' programming.
-24 (The ONLY time I watched it was when we were in the process of moving and only had 1 tv unpacked. Fell asleep!)
- any of the stupid at-the-track shows that gap NASCAR practices/qualifying or preceed the races themselves. Too much of coverage at the track is irritating; and it's why I'm not looking forward to being at home during the Daytona coverage. :x
- Entertainment gossip/news shows like Showbiz Tonight, Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, TMZ, and ENews. Why do people care 'bout that trash?
- Top Gear. What's the thrill?

Teletubbies - I get total rage when I see those creeps, no idea why :p
talk shows where people "talk about their feelings"

damn it, pretty much most tv shows I dislike to some extent :p

That creepy couple is no longer together meaning no more show.
