I'm actually a big fan of Star Wars, especially the New Jedi Order series in the Expanded Universe. Of course, certain classic characters get the axe in that series, but I think that just adds to the plot. Course, any major plot developments have to go through Lucas anyways, so it's not like it's total mayhem.

I'm also big on the Battlefront game series. Also, I think they need to make a Freelancer-esque game featuring the Star Wars universe, as it would be an almost perfect fit. (For those who don't know, Freelancer is a space-fighter game by Digital Anvil where you are a mercenary pilot or "freelancer". Between story missions you can take on jobs to earn money that can be used to upgrade your ship, weapons, etc. It also features a faction system; each "job" involves attacking one faction at the request of one of their enemies, and doing so increases your reputation with the attacking faction and their allies but decreases it with their enemies.)

I don't have enough knowledge of the franchise to be qualified to make one of those lists, but a few of my favorite fan edits/parodies:

Me. I own most of the games and 57 of the novels. I know a hell of a lot about the Expanded Universe and just love Star Wars really, it's my escape from the world.

EDIT: Forgot the questions.

1. Favorite Sith: Darth Bane.
2. Favorite Jedi: Hard choice, Probably Obi-Wan Kenobi actually.
3. Favorite Planet: Again, hard choice. Coruscant, Dantooine or Korriban. That's three, there are many more that I like just as much.
4. Favorite Star Wars Movie: Revenge of the Sith.

I don't like NJO that much, I finally got my hands on a copy of the Unifying Force (I read it at a library once but our bookstores are crap and don't stock many books) and am reading it now, I don't remember too much of the plot luckily and it's quite enjoyable. But it just dragged on and on, countless books, some barely even had the Vong in them. No, I much prefer books set before the NJO, after that they just weren't as good.

Of course, the new books set before NJO are still good, just not the ones set after, not for me anyway.

I remember being one at one time.

However:

On the night Diana, Princess of Wales, and others were killed in that car crash in Paris?
I remember that I was watching Return of the Jedi on the French-language
network of the CBC [Canadian Broadcasting Corporation] all through that evening until
25 to 11 (Mountain Daylight Time). That was when the news came from the doctors:
"We did everything we could." Ever since, I compare the penny-ante flesh would
Princess Leia took in her left arm to the head injuries--injuries that proved to be fatal--
that Diana took in the car crash.

Welcome to WrongPlanet anyway, Dragonas77.

I havent read a Star Wars book in a while. Looking back, they're all pretty lame. BUT in June they're reprinting a collection of the Marvel comics from the 80s. Now THOSE look like fun reads!

Yeeeeeahhhhhh. Grew up with these films.
I had a thing for Darth Vader's triangular 'mouth'. I was fascinated by it for years. He was my favourite because of that...
My VHS copies I got for xmas '97 (I was 7) of all 3 of the original trilogy almost wore out. No other of my videos had that problem. When Revenge of the Sith came out in 2005, I went nuts for the films again.

1. Darth Vader
2. Uhhh...Yoda is legendary...but so is Alec Guinness...
3. DEATH STAR. Ok its not a planet but its shaped like one. However I do quite like the Endor scenes with the Ewoks.
4. Used to be Jedi, but think its now New Hope, more Vader!!

PS Those videos are very funny XD

:)

I love the movies. All of them. The prequel trilogy has it's flaws, but the overall story is more interesting than the original trilogy, IMO. Seeing how Palpatine took control is facinating. I've played numerous SW games as well. The KOTOR series contain my two favorite RPGs of all time. I've also read the trilogy of books featuring Grand Admiral Thrawn. I wish Lucas would let someone else make more movies in the universe. I'd love to see a movies set in the KOTOR era or Darth Bane era. I'd also like to see a movie set in the story where Palpatine comes back as a clone. I loved all of his scenes in every movie.

There is actually a series of books set in the Bane era, the first is very good and the second is good if not as good as the first, haven't got the third because it was only out in hardcover last time I saw it.

And the KotOR series is indeed good, the mods make them even better. Showes how dedicated the community is too given that they had tow write their own tools to mod the game.

And finally, someone else who doesn't hate the prequels, I liked them because the story was more more interesting, the OT had the better films true, but the story wasn't complex at all and there were bad choices (ewoks). I liked the political nature of the first three...

To be honest some of the reasons I liked the prequels so much was for the amount of Jedi stuff, first three we had pulling and throwing lightsaber, a bit of chokeing and some farely good fights. But episode 1 alone there is a guy who uses double bladed with acrobatic movement and speed, and the episode 3 had that cool force fight with Yoda and Sidious and and Lava fight.

I was kind of interested when Krei mentions something on Korriban that the old saber experts were much stronger the ones at the time, and would make the current ones look like they are children playing with toys. I also have some interest in the forms, one particular form I read sound interesting involved turning off and on the Lightsaber. My favourite types of Jedi are the ones that had insight of consequences of action or lack of it.

star wars is my favorite thing ever. I've been obsessed with it since I was three and I watched the original cuts on vhs over and over when my aunt bought them for me at 4. I even have a jedi tunic and am planning to join the Rebel Legion when I turn 18 next year. I've got such an obsession with it that I practice Backhand Ataru, Djem-so, and Jar'Kai late at night outside with my orange and blue lightsabers. I also walk around the house a lot in my Jedi tunic, boots, tunic, belt, and everything else. It helps rid me of stress.

1. Favorite sith= Darth Krayt. The reveal that he was A'sharad Hett was amazing. I grew up reading many Republic comics featuring Hett. As soon as he was revealed to be Krayt, I thought back to issue 59 of Republic when he found out that Anakin massacred Tusken Raiders, Hett's own people, and forgave Anakin. He never told anyone, and I never noticed the repercussions of it, because I think he knew Vader was Anakin. I'm sad that Krayt is dead now. He was different from the other Sith. Where other Sith were power hungry and fought each other often, he organized the Sith like the Jedi and brought their ideals closer to them. Like Revan, he wasn't really evil like normal Sith. He just couldn't go back to the Jedi because he felt guilty, so he created his own Jedi order in a way, to give himself a cause and meaning once again.
2. Favorite Jedi= Plo Koon. Ever since I bought a strange looking jedi figure with a yellow lightsaber in 2000, I have been a fan of his. I played as him always in Jedi Power Battles when me and my cousins used to play and I think I cried a little when he died in Episode 3, at least when I first saw it in theaters at 12.
3. Favorite Planet- This is hard for me. I like Dac(Mon Calamari) or Korriban.
4. Favorite Star Wars Movie- 5 no question. Even before I could comprehend star wars even a little, 5 has always been my favorite.

It saddens me that I am the only Star Wars fan out of my cousins on my mother's side. My cousins Chris, Ray, Amaru, and Julian where into collecting the figures when the Power of the Force 2 line released. I liked the toys, so I later began buying them. My 2nd cousins, Alejandro and Ignacio, were also big into the toys and movies. They were about my age. but by the time everyone reached middle school, they stopped being fans and moved on. But not me. And I miss having someone to watch ESB for the hundredth time or to play lightsabers with.

Since Anime became big here in the US, nerds my age are not Star Wars, warhammer, dnd, or Star Trek fanboys like the old days. Sci-fi and fantasy has been ghetto stomped by Anime. No longer are they fans of that, but rather they're all anime fans, and it saddens me that my own social niche that I belong to is now filled with anime fans. I've been trying to gather star wars fans in my city to resurrect the fan group we had here years ago, but only one of the former members is my age while the others are in their twenties or thirties. Before me, my friend was the youngest but one of the more devted of the group, and this resurrection is his idea. We're making progress, but I've gotten only a few members interested and they're hard to contact. Many older members left for the 501st, which are usually very elitist. They don't want to help resurrect the group because of an event years ago were one of my groups members insulted the 501st for being elitist about costume standards. Wounds haven't healed and they still ignore us. I hope this saturday, free comic book day, we can reestablish contact with the myriad of stormies in my hometown.

Anyways, enough about my experience with Star Wars fandom. I just want to leave this post with my opinion on the prequels.

I used to love the prequels when I was a kid, but after a while, with some insight via red letter media(some guy on youtube who bashes the prequels intelligently within 90 minute rviews of each one except for 3 which he's working on.), I notice that not only do their plots make no sense at times, but they just don't give off the same feeling as the originals. I can tolerate 3 even with it's flaws because of the many redeeming factors, some awesome writing at parts, and the fact that along with 6, it's one of two SW movies that can get me to cry.

Anyways, here's a link to Redlettermedia. The reviews are absolutely hilarious and very insightful. http://www.youtube.com/user/redlettermedia?blend=2&ob=4

lol, sorry for taking so long to wrap up. It's just that Star Wars is something very dear to me. once I start talking or typing, I can't stop.
