That's the one! The redhead! ... Wait... Since when does German + Japanese = red hair? Well, that would be a good biology-based science project, even though I'm pretty sure it defies the laws of nature...

I would say that would be about the same time that Japanese girls started having green, blue, pink, and other outrageous colors of hair. In other words, around when they started putting anime in color.

On a related note, I just minutes ago finished a 12-hour Evangelion marathon, episode 1-26 plus 'End Of Evangelion'. Started at about 9:30 in the morning, it's 21:40 over here in the Netherlands as I'm typing this post. Sorry, although I had already seen most of this show before, my mind is now processing all of it and I'm not sure if I'll get any sleep tonight and I just thought I needed to vent this somewhere.

It was grand and glorious and I enjoyed every minute of the marathon but... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! !!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! !!

AAAHHHHHH!! AAAHHHHH!! ! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!! !

There. Just had to release that for a bit. Seriously, I loved spending my Sunday like this, with Shinji, Rei, Asuka, and the gang, but I'm not going to try anything like this again anytime soon.

I've yet to see the Rebuild films... Last year, the first one 'You Are (Not) Alone' was in the Melkweg cinema here in Amsterdam. I tried going, but I was daunted by the long line of people who wanted to see concerts (Melkweg is primarily a concert hall, too). Maybe I'll buy it on DVD one day, but for now, I'm perfectly happy with the original series + End, which make a well-rounded story on their own. I love Utada Hikaru's "Beautiful World" being the first movie's theme... seems perfectly in tune with Eva. Lyrically, I guess Utada's "Distance" would be even more appropriate for Evangelion, but that song's ten years old, so, eh...

I read in reviews that in 'Rebuild' the characters are a little bit more 'happy' and more comfortable socialising with each other than they were in the original series (in spite of the Angel battles), is this true? One thing about Evangelion that appeals to me so much, is that pretty much everyone in the show is socially awkward and usually inadequate in expressing their feelings to one another. They're a lot more open toward each other in the manga written by Sadamoto, which is why I prefer Anno's anime.

What Nazi? There's no Nazi in Evangelion, is there? Unless Lorenz Kiehl is one and I haven't noticed...

It was too long ago for me to remember, but I believe it was some German woman who reminded me very much of Nazis. When angry (which was very often), she rapidly yelled out phrases in German, probably with either very condescending or very hateful meaning. Although, it was long ago and I might be mistaken. That might have even been from Excel Saga, which I, as I stated earlier, watched in conjunction with Evangelion.

Are you thinking of Kazurazaka Asuna? She was a half-German redhead, and frequently very quick to anger...

Wait, Asuna Kagurazaka? She's from Negima, not Excel Saga!

Seriously people get your anime together!

*walks away grumbling*

:wall: OOPS :wall:
Sorry, I guess I've been reading too much Negima lately.* I seem to be getting my German redhead anime characters confused... (well in some places it's implied that Asuna is German, anyway..) I meant Asuka Langley Soryu. The two characters do sometimes have similar personality traits, though Asuna gets more time in front of the reader/viewer, and I generally perceive to be kinder, she does have her moments...

I saw the Eva 1.11 and a few days ago,the Eva 2.22 movie. The first one, Eva 1.11, was more like a remake of the first six episodes of the Evangelion anime. There were only a few changes but it was more like a reliving of the series. You have the same characters, but Shinji has become a lot less cowardly.

Then came Eva 2.22. I will try to vague as much as possible but the introduction of a new character, similarities with the old eva anime series and the new, and new designs of the a same angels plus whole new angels introduced, it is much more than a reliving. As a matter of fact it's more of a squeal to the original anime series.
