Yu-Gi-Oh! DM/GX/5D's: A franchise taking place in a world revolving around a children's trading card game and where the protagonists (generally a bunch of teenagers/young adults with really weird hairdos) use their trading cards to battle evil, which normally comes from some sort of supernatural power related to an ancient civilization (egyptian, peruvian, etc), a parallel dimension or the outer space.

Neon Genesis Evangelion-Pretty asian kids with problems.

Fist of The North Star-A day in the life of the most unstoppable badass in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Shugo Chara: Tweens pretty much rule everything provided there are chibi alter egos involved.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Little men always pound people for saying they're short and we love them for it.

Cowboy Bebop: Bounty Hunters in Space.

Samurai Champloo: Samurais and Hip Hop.

Azumanga Daioh: Teen girls acting silly/insane.

Haruhi Suzumiya: God is a bratty selfish Mary Sue (you sure this isn't Hell?).

Sailor Moon: Hot chicks fighting monsters with occasional gay romances (y'know, for kids!)

Ikki Tosen: Hot chicks fighting each other and not much else (take a shot every time you see someone's panties).

Trigun: At first it's Bugs Bunny in the Old West, then all of a sudden HARDCORE SERIOUS.

Lucky Star: Not Azumanga Daioh.

Yu-Gi-Oh: The fate of the world is decided by card games. It's almost as exciting as cleaning your computer's registry.

Princess Tutu: OH GOD IT'S SO BORING MAKE IT STOP.

Oh, there are many others I did neglect to mention. They are truly far more interesting and have higher quality than most series so let me briefly summarize those as well.

Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz: Many Gundams destroy other machines.

Gundam SEED Stargazer: A Gundam tries to destroy a civilian machine.

Gundam SEED Astray: Gundams with a sword and a gun destroy other machines.

Gundam: The 08th MS Team: A group of grunt Gundams destroy other machines.

MS Igloo: ... Machines destroy other machines.

Saki: In a world where male characters are hard to come by, yet no shortage crushes, Mahjong is an amazingly extreme and requires much skill and luck (both which are measured as the same.

Rosario + Vampire: A not so smart kid accidently graduates to a highschool for monsters, falls in love with a vampire who sees him as a friend and uses him as a food source and not noticing his actual feelings and he has several beatuful monsters fall for him.

Baka to Test Shoukanjuu: In a highschool classes are set up by ones grade in a single test, our hero turns out to bring a new definition to the word idiot and thus ends up in class F with characters who generally are bad at tests to seems to be from the KKK, luckily for them class rooms can be swapped by winning battles via sumoning holographic sprites which have strengths from the grade in subject tests.

Potemayo: A boy discovers a moeblob in his fridge which he names after items in the fridge (potato and mayonais), it often focuses on it being abused in a hillarious manner, and such things as massive amounts of of blood loss, incest, canibalism, crossdressing, peeing and friendship.

Chobits: A farmboy moves to the cit and, finds a cute robot in the trash who he slowly becomes in love with, while also getting the attention of his teacher, a highschool girl, land lady and becoming friends with a kid with a harem of scantly dressed robots.

Durarara: An Irish dullahan is riding around a Japanese city looking for it's head, while there are other strange hapenings, and three normal highschoolers are somehow involved.

Letter bee: being a mailman is serious business in a world of eternal night.

K-ON!: Cute girls play musical instruments and do cute things

So Ra No Wo To: K-ON just joined the army.

The Melancholly of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya: If anime is like drugs, Haruhi just doubled it's dosage.

Kiss x Sis: It is not incest if they are step brother and sister, so lets make it twin sisters who are very forcefull.

Higurashi When They Cry: Lolis gone wild.

Naruto: It isn't finished yet, but I can guess that after seven more time skips and 17,563,558 chapters, he will become Hokage.
