I want to see Heath Ledger rise from the dead and return to reprise his role as the Joker. Pretty sure that's not quite possible, though.

Here is the reason why i would not have Harley Quinn as a villan in the Dark Knight Rises. Remember when the Joker said that he and Batman are destined to fight eachother forever? it would be good to Save Harley Quinn for something better than as a main villan, remeber my idea of the Ending of the Dark Knight Rises, when it is revealed that Harley Quinn has helped the Joker escape Arkham (athough this is not shown on screen). so it is best to have Harley Quinn as a cameo intern in Arkham Asylum

I think Red Hood would have been a pretty good villain. But for that to happen we would need Robin. Hell, we would even need Nightwing. How about Deathstroke? I've never read the comics so I don't really know much about the "real" Deathstroke. All I know is he is an assassin and his real name is Slade Wilson. He was also in the Teen Titans as a Dr Doom type villain. But what if in the film he was like a Red Hood type vigilante and if you've seen what he looks like in the comics and Teen Titans cartoon, he wears a mask with orange on one side and black on the other, making him look like he has "two faces". Do you see where I'm going with this?

Just remember, this is a suggestion. It's not going to happen. Even I may have my doubts. But it's just for fun.

I would not mind if Dick Grayson is in The Dark Knight Rises, if he is, Dick Grayson should be played by Colin Morgan (Merlin)

Christian Bale said he would not return to the Batman movies if Robin had anything to do with it, so I somewhat doubt Dick Grayson will be in it, although Nolan could do great things with that.

Talia Al Ghul would be cool - some storyline leading back to Ra'as would be cool but I'm fairly sure he's dead.
Also Nolan confirmed that Harvey Dent is dead - they even show the funeral at the end - I don't think they'd miss it if they had the funeral and his body was gone?

I'd love Scarecrow to be in it again and for Arkham to have a bigger role. Harley Quinn would be cool but I think their intention could be to move away from the Joker stuff.

I'm not too sure I like all the ideas in the original post (especially the idea of casting British soap actors in all the meaty roles) but I do like the idea of Harley Quinn having a cameo. That can add to the unity of the trilogy and can work in Nolan's universe pretty nicely.

As a side note, I have a little mini-rant that really doesn't matter, but today a friend mentioned to me that "they're making a second Dark Knight movie". Ummm did people forget about Batman Begins after The Dark Knight? I mean for christs sake it doesn't even make sense, he's called BATMAN. It just makes me feel like that Batman Begins is getting a bad rep or is under appreciated which it doesn't deserve as it's such a great movie.

If i do want the penguin to be in the Dark Knight Rises, I would want David Suchet to play him, not Jack Black

For a while, there were rumours that the Penguin would be included, and would be played by Philip Seymour Hoffman. I could sort of see that working, but I guess we'll have to wait and see (though I agree that Suchet would be a great choice). I've also heard that Tom Hardy may be in the next film (I certainly hope so, he was great in Inception), but as who hasn't been established yet.

Characters I'd like to see in the next film:
-Black Mask would definitely work, and I can think of a whole list of potential worthies for the role.
-Poison Ivy, maybe? I can easily see her re-imagined as a bio-terrorist, poisoner and/or sociopath without the need for any crazy plant powers.
I hope they don't throw in Clayface or Dr. Freeze, though, as the inclusion of either would be pushing the believability of the film (All of the previous villains were sufficiently human, not mutated freaks or weirdos relying on super-advanced technology).

Hugo Strange it is!! Not confident in the casting of some young good looking guy (Tom Hardy) as Strange. I'm guessing this means monster serum!!

Tom Hardy is too young to play Hugo Strange, Roger Lloyd Pack would make a better hugo starnge than Hardy.

Casting a young, good-looking guy as the Joker worked pretty well. I don't see why Dr. Strange can't work as a younger man.

I'm just concerned it's gonna be like Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2. I love Sam Rockwell as an actor but he shouldn't have been cast for a role that was supposed to be a 60 or 70 something male.

Also, the Joker isn't an old man and most of his features are fairly anonymous.

And looking for images of Hugo Strange, I found this and I have to say that it works fairly well:

If we are Lucky Enough, I hope Ras Al Ghul will come back, or at least his Daughter, Talia. If Talia Al Ghul is in Dark Knight Rises, I hope Kara Tointon portrays her!!

I heard rumors that Johnny Depp was going to play The Riddler, but those rumors were proven to be false by Nolan himself, who says there will be no Riddler in the new film. I'm a little disappointed, not as a Batman fan but as a Johnny Depp fan. I probably would have gone to see the film if he was in it. Oh well, if I want more of Depp playing an eccentric character, I'll just have to wait for Dark Shadows next year (or the next couple of years anyway).

Nolan has denied that Two Face was going to be in the Dark Knight, so it does not mean that the Riddler is definatly not in the Dark Knight Rises, i hope John Simm portrays the Riddler.
