Simple really, it has basically bludgeoned the whole vampire mythology and has given the impression that these once evil, smelly, sinister and dark creatures are sparkly hair-care product obsessed prettyboys. And don't even get me started on Robert Pattinson sparkling in the sunlight, since when do vampires sparkle!?!?!

If i want real vampire movies, i will watch...

The Bela Lugosi Dracula
The Hammer Horror Dracula with Christopher Lee
Bram Stoker's Dracula with Gary Oldman as the Count
Interview with the Vampire
The Lost Boys
Blade
Blade 2
30 Days of Night
Daybreakers - The subsider vamps P*SSES all over Edward Cullen
Let Me In

Now you know why i hate Twilight.

...because it's take on completely-fictional mythological creatures is "wrong"?

Give me a break.
The same scene in that demotiv happens every day a thousand times over,
usually in a far more sexualized context than Twilight's PG themes,
only it's old men ogling young women.

The genders ARE reversed this time- and that seems to be a cause for a lot of the hostility.

I think we have barely any those sort of things over here in Australia and I am just as against those sort of things, I guess in my case I against those sort of things aswell. But I have to keep hearing my mum tell me how hot the actors are, and their age to mine is not a very big difference. Corect me if I am wrong but arent women just as against them aswell.

I guess I could go on and say I am just as disgusted by the older otaku (extreme anime fans) who go on about how much they are in love with the fairly young characters in anime, in conjunction with both genders. Hey I am fine with enjoying characters, but there are levels, and for some reason Twilight seems to pull people to the extreme. I think it would be best not to compare Twilight to strippers, *cough*topless werewolf*cough*.

I dislike Twilight partially because I tried it and found it wasn't my style, but mostly because it has caused people to think that "vampires = Edward Cullen", so you can't go around saying you like vampires anymore without someone thinking you're following the trend of fangirling over pretty-boy vegetarian vampires, when you actually prefer the more traditionally-portrayed ones. I've been a fan of the two vampire anime series Hellsing and Trinity Blood since before Twilight Fever took over, and I feel annoyed that I can't fully express my love of them out of fear that I'll be labeled a poser or something.

Read the vampire chronicles isntead.
That's why I hate twilight, it's crap in comparison and so many younger ones havn't even heard of it. Even a old aquaintance of mine started reading twilight.. I was rather peeved. Although she liked the teeny romancwness of twilight.

Don't get me started on the Cullen's "vegetetarianism". :P

Pretty silly.

In my experience, most of the Twilight haters are actually women. Perhaps the most often cited objection is the the series' puritanical attitudes towards sex and its portrayal of women as subordinate characters dependent on men. The second criticism comes from a lot of aspiring writers, filmmakers, etc. who think that the books are cliched, have very little conflict, the prose is bad even by amateurish standards, and the characters live in such a grandiose existence (sparkling vampires) that willing suspension of disbelief becomes very difficult.

Those are valid critiques, and I particularly agree with the feminist-esque one. But those who make them don't seem to be the ones who literally become enraged at the concept of Twilight.

That, and there's a video where they lampoon Twilight by having "Edward" be a girl vampire and a lesbian attraction. All the guys are raving about how great the movie is and the wives/girlfriends are going  over their reaction.

Those two say it all.

Boredom, self loathing, and a need to troll.

With that said, Twilight really does suck.

I just assumed that the same men who complain about Twilight are the same men who complain about all the jerks getting the girls.

Which in the case of what happens in this series may very well be accurate.
