You've brought up a good point. Although I'm not a fan of the show & I do not watch regularly at all, why can the producers not state the kid is autistic? The kid presents with the penultimate classic symptoms of the text-book autistic child. I think the programme loses credibility because of this. Granted, the programme is fiction but it does need to make sense and agree with what is currently known and well-established. It is autism.

More importatntly, can we discuss that this show is quite well written and detailed. Alos let us noy forget that for the first time all the other people are actually trying to communicate with teh autistic kid on his terms using his form of communication and nottrying to force him to conform. Kudos!

I think it is because of political correctness that they never never say he is autistic, like autistics would be offended by a positive betrayal of a hero child helping people.

ok i know this thread is way old.

but i just finished watching this series again on Netflix Streaming. the kid is now on the new Gotham show. but after finishing Touch, i wish it wasn't canceled. If i remember...I think it was canceled in favor of bringing 24 back for just a few more episodes. stupid. I would rather have had Touch back.
