Lee Evans. I can watch him (my parents like him) and not laugh at all.

To be honest I really have a hard time getting into many stand up comedians period anymore. Sometimes people like Richard Pryor can still make me chuckle but so many of them just use their comedy as platforms to talk about their exaggerated personal lives, political opinions or about how they hate everyone but in a "funny" way. Some just strike me as obnoxious, like Gallagher and the dude with the ventriloquist dummies.

I'm more of fan of the kind of humor you see in a show like Arrested Development or in a Kurt Vonnegut book.

In that case you might be interested in Alt Comedy. Check out Demetri Martin, you'd probably love him.

A female comedian. I forgot her name. Let's simply call her "every single female stand-up comedian that I've ever seen".

I'm usually not sexist, or at least I don't think I am, but this is one of the few cases -- perhaps the only case -- where there is a clear difference in talent / abilities between the sexes. Of course I'm not saying that all male comedians are funny, mind you. Quite the opposite actually (most of them suck). But the few genuinely funny comedians all happen to be male. At least as far as I can tell.

This is the funniest bit of stand-up comedy ever performed. (To all George Carlin haters: Don't worry, he doesn't say anything painfully true about religion or politics in this video, it's all about pets). It starts a bit slow and gets kind of sad in the middle, but if you're not in tears of laughter at the end, you have no sense of humor and simply don't understand comedy. I think this was the only time that Carlin lost his composure on stage and made himself laugh:

What about Sarah Silverman or Garfunkel and Oates?

It's a sexist thing to say, and, by virtue of holding a sexist opinion, you are sexist. Please don't try to downplay it.

Dennis Miller, overrated smug neocon. What funny stuff he did in the past was probably by his writing team. You can be somewhat funny and conservative, Drew Carey and Larry Miller come to mind, but Dennis lost it, both mentally and comedically.

Robin can be a bit "over the top" at times.

Amen. I fully approve of smart-asses. But Bill Mahr as not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. I prefer Dennis Miller who is a very smart smart-ass.

Andrew Dice Clay is okay, but he sets himself up for controversy.

Jeff Foxworthy or Larry the Cable Guy

I have to admit I haven't seen much of their actual standup, but I've seen enough of their "spinoff" performances or merchandising. Piles of You Might Be A Redneck If..... material or Larry traveling America.

I don't mind Jeff Foxworthy (he has the same birthday as me :D ) or Larry that much, but the other guy, can't think of his name, the "Tater Salad" guy, is just so weird-looking to me that I can't stand to watch him. And I don't like the sound of his voice, either. He just gives me the creeps.

And I agree that George Carlin can be to harsh on religion.

BTW, how do you quote more than one person at the same time? Is there a way to do that?

Jim Breuer, Bill Hicks, Sam Kinnison, Dane COok or Kathy Griffin.

Jim Bruer is just a stoned lunatic (Gary Busey's schtick stolen), Bill Hicks was just crude and stupid (although some of his points were valid, Tool and George Carlin made similar points better), Sam Kinnison just yells the whole time, Dane COok is an arrogant idiot with absolutely no talent (although I admit the car alarm skit is mildly amusing), and Kathy Griffin is just the typical women shoved into a terrible comedian...utterly vapid.

ANd for an honorable mention...George Carlin. I love some of his stuff and absolutely loathe others. He is the only man I know that can make an awful joke like "Know what nobody talks about anymore? p**** farts." to a hilarious attack on the American political system. His hit-miss rate is almost as great as Seth MacFarlane's...if only either would sort out the good from the utter crap.
