The original Star Wars trilogy.
Blue Velvet
Eraser Head
King Kong (original)
The Thing (Carpenter remake)
Gone With The Wind (which I concede grudgingly - racist, cracker movie)
Superman (Christopher Reeve)
Blazing Saddles

By iconic you mean what the general critics think? Rather than our own personal favourites.

I would say:

Citizen Kane
Wizard of Oz
Anything by Hitchcock
The Wicker Man
Alien
Star Wars
The Godfather
Grease
Rebel Without a Cause
Halloween
The Good the Bad and the Ugly
Jaws

The Toy Story Trilogy
The Shawshank Redemption
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
The Terminator
Terminator 2: Judgement Day

Avatar
Jurassic Park
Beauty and the Beast
Superman
Spider-Man
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Jaws
E.T The Extra Terrestrial
and probably more.

A Clockwork Orange
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Blade Runner

This is a great list--those in bold are especially good...

For comedies, I'd add:
Airplane!
The Naked Gun

For Westerns I'd say:
Fist Full of Dollars (far superior to and more influential than its overrated sequel-- The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly)
High Plains Drifter

For Sci-Fi I'd add:
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (pulpy space opera, DONE RIGHT!)

For westerns, I'd add The Wild Bunch,Sam Peckinpah's bloodbath tale of old time desperadoes still trying to live as they once had in early 20th century Mexico, co-starring Ernest Borgnine who just passed away.

How Could I have forgotten The Wild Bunch ? That movie changed violence on film forever.

PS

Also, I'd just like to clarify my thoughts on Fist Full of Dollars vs. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly....

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is a good movie and great art, but the often overlooked Fist Full of Dollars defined an entire genre... So many good films, including The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly , would not exist if not for Fist Full of Dollars .

PPS
R.I.P. Ernie.... :(
