Anyone obsessed with Anime BEFORE it became popular?

I started getting somewhat obsessed with anime at the point of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, before that I was equally obsessed with Vol Tron and Robotech but also American cartoons as well but once the 90s came to an end most of the American cartoons went to crap, now only thing worth watching for the most part is anime and the cartoons on adult swim. American cartoons I sure miss: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ghost Busters, Swat Cats, Biker Mice from Mars, Dino Saucers, Transformers X-Men Gargoyals etc. My main TV obssessions are primarily anime though these days like Bleach, Naruto Shippuden One Piece, Tiger and Bunny, Rosario Vampire, Evangalion Cow Boy Beebop Deathnote Blood + Inuyasha Brave 10 Ghost in the Shell etc.
