I'm "New to Who". Loved the first episode of this season. Unfortunately I guessed the twist within the first 15 min. :? I Loved how the humanity was kept. (Trying not to be a spoiler in case someone hasn't seen it yet) Daleks are odd. They remind me of lumpy trash cans.

I like them as people, but they are just so emotional these days; it's kind of embarrassing to watch them hug and make out and be sad in my living room. I always empathize with the Doctor because he always walks in and has to back out because they're all up on each other.

I heard that the person who played Oswin (aka. Souflee girl, Carmen) is going to be the next female companion after Ponds leaves. Anyone else hear anything like that?

But how? If he goes back in time and saves her form turning Dalek won't that cause problems when she's not there to help him at the asylum?

Well, it's definitely true that Jenna Louise-Coleman (the actress) is playing then next companion. It might not be that she is playing oswin, since the new companions name is Clara, or it might be that they've met in the wrong order (like river song).

Of course, it could just be that she is playing another character in doctor who shortly before she joins up with another role just like Martha and Amy did, but I think this is more deliberate on Moffats part, one of his confusing story arcs.

Yeah, but River Song was really obvious about knowing the doctor, as was the girl in "Blink" at the end. I thought she didn't know who he was (although she should have from the Dalek hive mind thing).

He'd have to save her past self and let her die or come up with some bizarre time loophole.

I liked the bit where Amy took up the position of being the Doctor and having her own two companions, who started flirting with each other.

This season seems pretty promising so far. the first two episodes were very good. Season 6 was a little too wibbly wobbly and made it kind of forgettable and hard to follow, but I still enjoyed it.

Definitely love the actress playing the new companion. Hopefully she's more of a Donna Noble-type (strong, independent, likes the Doctor but isn't afraid to call him out) and less of a Rose/Amy type. Judging by her first appearance I think this may be the case.

I don't think they ever confirmed if Oswin was the same character as the new companion, or a descendant/ancestor/some kind of wobbly clone. It will be interesting to see how she's introduced and how the events of the first episode will play into that.

I don't know how Amy started out, but I don't see her as not standing up to the Doctor. In the first episode of this season she did tell him to shut up when she was explaining about the "dead daleks". Shoot her at a planet? "Geronimo!"
She's not as cheeky as Oswin was, though. Is that how you mean?

I'm referring to the being madly in love with the Doctor aspect of her character from the prior seasons. They've definitely downplayed that this season, and she's come into her own as a character, which I can appreciate. Not to say the Doctor/Amy/rory love triangle thing wasn't interesting.

I just think it would be refreshing to have another companion with a more platonic connection like Donna (who never expressed romantic interest in him at all) and to a lesser extent Martha (who basically dropped it after she got friendzoned).

It's also cool that we might be getting a companion that isn't from contemporary Earth.

Um, pretty sure she did express 'some' romantic interest in him. Definitely jealousy. I was watching an episode with her in it the other day... Now I'll need to go through those episodes again! I've watched them all several times, but it's been a while I guess.

I'd like to see him with a male companion. I'd prefer that companion be The Master but I know that won't happen....

When they first introduced River Song, I thought maybe she'd be traveling with him for a season. I didn't like her at first, but now I do and I'm kind of disappointed because it looks like she's pretty much gone..? Or will be gone soon?

I'm excited about the new episodes in any case.
