Just some suggestions for scares - -

The Haunting Of Hill House The original. Proof of what you can't see is scary.
Paranormal Activity Again, it's what you can't see...
Event Horizon Especially if you can see it in a theater.
Prophecy Scared the s**t out of me a a kid, and I still feel traumatized by it.
The Descent The claustrophobia works fantastic with the rest of the horror.
The Nightmare Man Just when you think you've got it figured out...
Nosferatu Scariest. Vampire. Ever.

The movie that really freaked me out was -The Fly- , the original with Vincent Price. That last scene Help meeee, Help meeee
still gives me the willies and cobly wobbles.

I'll never understand why anyone would want to scare themselves. it's like your attacking yourself, emotionally at least.
and it can have very serious effects on a person, such lack of sleep, due to being too scared from whatever horror film you watched,.
horror movies made me unable to sleep for days, and cuased very severe nightmares.
why would anyone want to have nightmares? it's not good for your health. if you watch too many horror films or just one extremly scary one, good luck, you'll regret it when you can't sleep, and when your too scared to turn the lights off.

I know, becuase of several occasion where I watch a horror film just so my dad didn't have to watch it by himself.
too this day I still get nightmares from from that alien ride in disney land, which was basicly forceing me into a "real" horror film.
it made me unable to go in the bathroom alone, without thinking the alien was going to get me...

so, like I said its bad for your health. not just emotional health, but sometimes being "scared senseless" can effect you physicly.

Please don't do that. People don't like being preached to.

The strangers. More psychological and creepy than jump in your face scary.
Martyrs. French film, amazing piece of art and the europeans always have better special effects (Blood especialy) in my opinion.
Both of these are especialy scary because they are possible in real life. Sometimes humans are the scariest thing.

Today it may seem goofy, but cast your mind back 4 decades ago and imagine going to see it at the cinema. It's a seminal horror film that resonates fear and makes today's feeble attempts at horror look weak.

Yeah, this and Paranormal Activity are good if you want suspense without large amounts of violence, sex, etc.

The Ring was pretty creepy without getting too gory.

Ah, I forgot about The Ring! Yeah, it's only PG-13. I also liked the first half of Insidious, but the second half felt almost like a strange theatre production...

The Saw movies are pretty scary, I found Nightmare on elm street funny and same with the Jason movies as well as Chucky movies. Pyscho, Poltergist,The Excosist, The Shining are good old horror movies, Paranormal Activites, Blair Witch Project, The Rite, The Hills have eyes.
