She's beautiful with or without long hair and as someone else said it will grow back. The fact is that Les Miserables is a fantastic book and stage play and now hopefully a great film. Don't let trivial issues put you off. If they completely re-order all the scenes and change any lyrics that's when you hear me complaining!

Hairdressers are all perverts anyway. They groom people all day long.

Well... I probably wasn't going to see the movie, anyway. :?

Why do people equate getting getting your hair cut off with becoming ugly? :? Natalie Portman looked very poised with a buzzcut IMO, though the right head shape and a long slender neck kinda helped.

The hard part about haircut scenes on REAL hair is that they can only do one take.

I'll probably go see the movie. I understand that Samantha Barks from the Isle of Man (or for one day the Isle of Sam) is in it. If you remember, Samantha Barks placed third in the British tv show "I'd Do Anything" where they were trying to land the lead part of Nancy in London's West End revival of Oliver.

I still think that Jessie Buckley clearly should have won. I'm convinced that the British really made an error there.

There is a hair cutting scene in Les Miserables because it is in the original novel by Victor Hugo. I could go back in time and ask Monsieur Hugo to remove it from the book...

In the book she sold her teeth (before selling her body), that would be a far worse scene to watch than the hair being removed.

Actually, I happen to think that a lot of women look attractive with short hair. Anne Hathaway's new pixie cut looks totally adorable on her. Mia Wasikowska looked gorgeous when she cut off all her hair for Restless (which is an excellent movie by the way. I highly recommend it). And what about Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter) from Fight Club? That's the only time I've seen HBC with short hair and hot damn does she look good in it! I also think that in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Swedish version), Noomi Rapace really rocked the androgynous look with her "emo" haircut. I was so pissed off when she grew her hair out for The Girl Who Played with Fire! So, I guess in that instance I have a similar gripe as you, only for me it's with growing hair out rather than cutting it all off.

"Les Miserables" is okay, but I'm not going to go pay money to see it. "Phantom Of The Opera," on the other hand--with the exception of the girl who played Christine Daae and didn't know how to show more than one facial expression--was awesome.

Yeah, and Sigourney Weaver still looked hot in Alien 3.

Look, in movies, actresses have the choice to actually cut it or wear a cap and cut a wig. If Anne wanted it, she got it. And, geeze - Natalie Portman shaved her head for "V for Vendetta" and her life didn't come to an end. I imagine, much like Emma Watson, guys ignored her and she didn't date much, at all, until it grew back out, but she lived.

I'm assuming you're a girl? Imagine if George Clooney or Brad Pitt played the role of total wussy douchebags.

If it wasn't for the fact that both V for Vendetta and Les Misreables 2012 were major budget films where the movie makers paid their lead castmembers hundreds of millions of dollars, I don't think Natalie nor Anne would have filled the roles in these movies. Obviously money was the main driving factor.

Well, DUH!

No one wants to invest in a movie that loses money! Thus, only the best-acting A-List actors, and the best-looking B-List actresses are usually cast in leading roles.

Money is always the main driving factor.
