Does anyone here remember Captain Planet
I most certainly do! It was the best cartoon I ever watched. I especially liked that the Planeteers were of different ethnicities, and the fact that he never got in a fight like most, well, the closest he came was against Captain Pollution. It's also what made me most interested in environmentalism and in different cultures. Besides, it's definitely much better than the stuff kids watch these days.
Captain Planet premiered a few months after Marvel's New U titles folded. Coincidence?
Well, nothing is really original anymore when you stop and think about it. Just about everything is inspired or related to something else. It also definitely inspired my writing, along with Asimov. Besides, he was original in the sense that he was the first, and to this day, environmentalist superhero. The Planeteers are also based on real people that Miss Pyle and Mr.Boxer met before they did the series.
You're pretty right there. That's actually what I did do in my stories. The characters realized that humans would never change, although they had hope for them once. Using their telepathic powers, inspired both by Ma-Ti's Heart power, and Asimov's Second Foundationers, they convinced the humans that Earth was dying, upon which they began to evacuate. Now the humans are working on destroying other planets instead by terraforming them, with which some of the characters are perfectly fine, and others aren't. Although I admit that my characters came out a bit misanthropic, but that's my own inspiration right there. I'm writing some short stories that take place when the humans were still on Earth, and some others which take place after they left, when my characters are working to clean up and get rid of any signs that humans were ever on Earth, like roads, mines, cleaning up the oceans, stuff like that.
My favorite planeteer is Kwame, and Earth my favorite power. It's a shame that they never said where from Africa he was from. I was hoping from South Africa where he could have seen the Big Five, or Kenya or Tanzania, where he got to see the Great Wildebeest Migration. I also like how he has a soft spot for plants. While many people think of endangered animals, many don't realize that many plants are endangered, too, facing the same challenges.
It's a shame my parents disliked the show so much. They could never get past the fact that I inspired by a cartoon. But then my parents hate everything I like, especially if it comes from a book or tv.

My favorite planteer is the girl from Eastern Europe(Russia) Linka, i liked her because i'm from Eastern Europe myself, but from Poland not Russia. And Wheeler, he and Linka have so different character, yet they cannot live without each other
That's what got me interested in Slavic cultures, that Linka was Slavic. I've always wondered what her patronymic is. Alexandrovna, I hope, like Princess Irina Alexandrovna and her mother, Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna. I always wondered where they got the names for the Planeteers. Kwame means 'born on a Saturday' in Akan, so I'm guessing he must be from West Africa, Ghana, probably. Linka, I suppose must be a diminutive for something like Iliana, and Wheeler, I'm almost sure is named for someone named Charlie Wheeler, who Prince William met during his gap year when volunteering at Lewa Conservacy. He was the one who told HRH about the Tusk Trusk. I've tried to track down exactly where Linka was from. I suppose a mining town near Moscow, and went on family vacations in Siberia, she mentioned.
I'm almost certain Linka likes Wheeler as well, but just likes to give him a hard time sometimes.

I think she liked torment him
but on the other hand, she could not live without him, and he was without her, I wonder what would happen if they continue on this cartoon, whether Whealer and Linka got married and lived happily ever after
Anyway, I remember one episode where the action was in the future.
It was a episode devoted overpopulation. In this episode of Wheeler and Linka were married with a large number of children, but it was not a good marriage.
At the end it turned out that it was just a Wheeler dream. It was episode "Numbers Game" from fifth season.

I remember Captain Planet! I was a bit of a tomboy, so I was more into superhero things like that. Would watch it every time I got the chance. Can still remember the theme song.
I've seen that you can find a lot of older cartoons on youtube.com. Wonder if Captain Planet would be there? Hmm . . .

That was a hilarious episode, Wheeler and Linka having eight children and expecting another! I felt so terrible for him, going shopping with all those kids!
You can find some episodes on youtube, including Mission to Save Earth Parts 1 & 2, where Captain Pollution made his first appearance. How I hated Pollution, although I must admit he was one of the best villains.

I envied him a little bit there, but not all of these children, but virility. To have such group of kids, you have to REALLY REALLY try. If you know what I mean
That was funny, when he woke up, and he was like so shocked to see Linka.
Wheeler-Guys, wait till you hear about my nightmare.
Linka-What's that, dear?
Wheeler-'Dear?'(looks in the mirror)AAAAAHHHHH! I'm old!
Linka-40's not so old, sweetheart.
Wheeler-You're old!
Linka-Hey, watch it, buster!
Wheeler notices she's pregnant-What happened to you?
Linka-You know very well what happened to me.
I was a little like 'well, DUH! What does it look like happened to her.'

If they were not fictional characters from the cartoon they will have 40-ties by now
It would be great if they made a new version of Captain Planet, with brand new planeeters, eg. Captain Planet: The Next Generation like Star Trek: The Next Generation BTW my favorite sci-fi series:-)
A new series would be awesome, although I think they should have the original Planeteers. Or maybe the originals being a bit older, and kind of training younger kids as Planeteers.

And what title would you suggest.
I advocating planeteers: The Next Generation
BTW: Relationship between Linka and Wheeler remind me relationship between Harmon Rabb and Sarah MacKenzie from JAG, the also have lot of break up and reunions
I hadn't thought about the title, but The Next Generation sounds good.
I don't know if they ever really broke up. They were never really together, after all, despite how much Wheeler tried. Although in the episode where the ecovillains from the future come to stop them, and Gaia summons the planeteers from the future, two do resemble Linka and Wheeler, but then each one resembled one of them, although Linka and Wheeler were especially surprised. I think they must have been the great great grandchildren of the original planeteers, as one of the future villains said she was Blight's great great granddaughter. If so, I wonder if perhaps MAL may somehow have been her great great grandfather. I remember Blight mentioning that if MAL was human she'd marry him.

They were pretty good TV couples
Like Search Mckenzee and Harmon Rabb from JAG or Samantha Carter and Jack O'neill, like them there ware not "official couple" but shared a mutual respect, and secretly in love each other.
I hated that show. The whole thing was one big eco-fascist brainwashing seminar. All the villains were over-the-top corporate moguls, all the "Planeteers" were icons of force-fed multi-cultural BS. Captain Planet was a big blue ponce who's super power was...what was his super power, cleaning up oil spills? planting trees? Captain Planet would have been up s**t creek minus a paddle if a real super villain had ever shown up.
Ugh...
If there was going to be a sixth planeteer, then let's be honest. His power would have been political correctness.
Well, for brainwashing, I actually already believed in protecting our planet before I ever watched the show. The villains were never meant to represent actual people, but problems, like Sludge representing ignorance and short term thinking, or Nukem representing nuclear power. But of course Captain Planet couldn't solve all the world's problems. That's just the point. It was really the Planeteers, who working together did most of the work. Just like for real. We can't expect someone to just show up and suddenly pollution disappears. We must all work together. Actually, when doing the show, they considered leaving Captain Planet out, and simply calling it The Planeteers.
