I love Life is Beautiful <3 Such a sad but amazing movie :)

It's kind of strange that I like it, because I normally hate the sappy, "inspirational", movies that it's often compared to. However, I don't think it belongs in that echelon. What really fascinates me about Life is Beautiful is how it takes a rather immature approach to the incredibly sobering topic of the Holocaust, but never manages to really be insensitive or mocking in tone. It looks at the topic and its story with an uncharacteristically childish viewpoint, yet ironically, because of this, it is a very serious and fascinating film. And, of course, it's very funny. Try looking at it as a novel approach to a serious topic instead of an uplifting, powerfully inspirational film (though it can be that at times). I'm sure you'll enjoy it a lot more.
