Does anyone else get really emotional from movies/tv shows?

The Place Beyond The Pines got to me when I watched it yesterday.

I find myself crying to odd sections of movies sometimes. It's often just calm scenes and music that make me start.

I admit that I do cry in some sad scenes. When I was younger, I watched Charlotte's Web in school, and it tore me up seeing Charlotte die. The same applied to the remake, which my niece made me watch.

I also cried near the end of Click (with Adam Sandler). Yes, it's a comedy, but that one scene where Sandler's character dies and says goodbye to his family got me into tears. I stopped crying when it was discovered that he dreamt the whole thing up (thank God for happy endings).

I don't cry much watching TV shows, but I did get teary-eyed watching A Garfield Christmas Special. It was sad when Grandma talks to Garfield and Odie about her deceased husband. I also found some episodes of ALF sad, especially the series finale, because even if ABC released a follow-up movie (Project ALF), I still feel that the plot of the series is unresolved.

Same here by watching My Name Is Khan. It reminds me of Forrest Gump.

I literally cry *every* time I watch this clip, and it always starts at 0:25, when the second musician goes back to continue playing...

After the Supernatural Season 8 finale, tumblr was full of posts from people who thought it was really sad. I thought it was a bit sad but I didn't cry, so I feel like I've missed out on the full experience. But I enjoyed the episode and it was certainly better than the last episodes of Seasons 6 and 7.

I never understood the hype around supernatural. I forced myself to watch the entire first season hoping it would get better, but I found it to suffer from very poor writing, generic dialogues and very one-dimensional characters. The only redeeming quality is its humor.
But that's just my opinion.

Poor writing? What exactly didn't you like about it?
I think the writing in the first five Seasons was one of the best things about the show. Eric Kripke, it's creator, had a 5 year plan and it would have been executed wonderfully if the network didn't force the show to continue. I know it starts off quite slow but the pace does speed up and the humour gets even better. It's one big story and the first 5 Seasons are all connected.
Hate the show all you want but the reason being "poor writing" is something that I just do not understand. Was it that you didn't like the characters or the story line?

###########SPOILER ALERT############
It's been a while so I don't remember too much.
There was one episode they visited a village that gets attacked by bugs at night. Near the end of the episode night falls and the bugs start attacking. They flee to the attic where the bugs are still trying to invade. They're showing conversation and movement, and at no point is there any indication that a lot of time has passed. After only a couple of minutes in the attic the bugs get through I think (not entirely sure) but then the sun comes up and the bugs fly away. After just a few minutes!

In another episode there was a ghost like creature that followed people. I could be mistaken with another enemy in the same season, a female hitch hiker that kills men who she considers sexual offenders.
People sprint at their might and are in cars but are unable to get away from her. But the two protagonists run (they don't even sprint, they nearly jog) and yet they manage to get away.

That season was just filled with convenient ways for the protagonists to survive that don't make any sense to me, I stopped watching. It's like almost every episode they put the characters in a grave situation for which the writers find no solution, so they just come up with something convenient (It's the second time I used that word but I just think it fits what I'm describing the best.) The over arching storyline might be good, as you said I haven't watched enough to be able to judge. but the individual episode story lines were poorly written imo.

Honestly I thought it was a terrible show when I watched the pilot and my opinion didn't change with the rest of the season.

Alright, so I looked it up online and watched the ending of Bugs and you're right, sunlight did come way too suddenly. I didn't watch the other one you mentioned because I couldn't work out which one it was and the last time I watched a full Season 1 episode was when it originally aired on TV, so my memory is no help here.
But from what I watched in Bugs, the acting isn't actually as good as it is later on.
I'm curious, what did you think of the recap in the last 2 episodes? I ask because they're done differently with "The Road So Far" appearing on the screen instead of "Then" and usually Carry On My Wayward Son playing in the background and recapping the major events of the show, mostly from the current Season.
I look forward to The Road So Far recaps, I just think they're an exciting way to recap and get pumped for the finale.
The first Season is like a lot of shows, it's not as good because it hasn't had the chance to reach it's full potential. Like Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Farscape. Both great shows but the first Season was admittedly lacking in excitement (and if you knew how much I love Farscape, you'd understand how big of a deal it is for me to say that).
And I truly believe that for the first 5 Seasons, the show got better every Season.
But I thought Season 8 was almost like a return to form, though I know it'll never be the same without Kripke's full involvement.

Like I said, I stopped watching after the first season. The poor episode per episode storytelling, flat characters, bad acting (sorry but yes I think they're bad actors) and incredibly generically written conversations kept me away.

What I think is funny, is that I'm on another website with tons of Supernatural fans, where tv shows get reviewed. A lot of those supernatural fans criticized revolution for bad writing, flat characters etc. Yet they love supernatural.
Even though everything Revolution suffers from, is even worse in Supernatural.

Yeah, I know you stopped watching after Season 1, I get that. I'm not sure why you brought it up again, though.
And like I said, the acting in the first Season isn't as good as it is later on.
Oh and you didn't answer the question about what you thought of The Road So Far.

I said I stopped after the first season, to make clear I didn't watch any recaps.

Yes but I said that the recaps are in the last 2 episodes, like how there's always "then" with a short recap but those 2 episodes have "The Road So Far" instead, with a song playing (usually Carry On My Wayward Son) and I think it's cool. Sums things up nicely and it's enjoyable to watch. So if you watched the entire Season, you would have seen them. I just wanted to know what you thought of them, I can't remember why though :P
