Do we have to like every movie that's considered good?

I personally don't think we should even have to watch every movie that's supposed to be good. But sometimes you just get sick of all the peer pressure. I for one have decided never to watch any of the Harry Potter or LOTR movies. I read The Hobbit and the LOTR books back in the 90's and I think it's sad that no one else seemed to have a clue about them until the live-action movies came out, and people are going to hate on The Hobbit because of the movie and not the book they should have at least read first.

My personal opinion is that 90% of Hollywood's product every year is total garbage. I could name so many TV shows and films I've known to avoid from very early on, only to have my suspicions confirmed by seeing commercials for them later. :(

That said, I'm very thankful some decent material is still being made at all, and I hope the amount increases in years to come. I miss having great stories around without a bunch of junk in them, my favorite being "Field of Dreams".

I only watch a film if I think I would enjoy watching. I am not against watching a film that there is a lot of hype around and would watch with curiosity.
