Good one lol

I'm very excited for this one, even though the script is a little outdated and the hybrid dinosaur thing is not what I would like to see...
But well, it have dinosaurs. It's enough for me to be happy.

This movie looks semi good, but we'll see how it goes. I didn't like Jurassic Park 3 at all. The Lost World was pretty good, though. Well, it debuts in a couple of days, so we'll see how it all goes! :)

I don't think that's an alternate reality. I think that's how it is. When have people ever really anything? History usually goes in cycles.

Still, I'm looking forward to seeing the movie. I hope the dinosaurs in it have feathers. That'd be interesting.

I loved Jurassic Park; I'm sort of excited for Jurassic World, but I'm also afraid (and over tired) of Hollywood destroying something else I love.

This is out now; has anyone seen it yet? How was it?

I have no illusions that it will be as good as the original, but it should at least be better than the sequels. JP was visually incredible and had a real sense of danger. The scene with the velociraptors going after the children in the kitchen, and the one where the tyrannosaurus first appears and attacks the two disabled vehicles showed a Hollywood that is overly-full of over-the-top monsters that plain old dinosaurs are still plenty scary enough. Part of what made them so scary is the fact that these monsters actually existed; they were real once, just the way the movie showed. Hybrid dinosaurs can't compete with that.
2 and 3 were not very good; I spent much of those movies rolling my eyes. Repeated viewings have increased my appreciation for them, but they are not on the same level as the first.
I'm hoping Jurassic World is at least passable. The reviews haven't totally torn that hope to shreds yet, so maybe it's not as bad as I fear.

I saw it this afternoon.

It's OK. It's probably the best of the three JP sequels but there's nothing outstanding about it and nothing in it you haven't seen before. You've probably even seen the best of the effects already in the trailer.

I won't give too much away but there's quite a strong "Aliens" vibe in parts of it. I wonder if that's the direction they are planning to take the series in...

I do like 'Alien.' But Jurassic Alien? Meh. I can see some potential thematic crossover. Egg nests, creepy jungle settings instead of creepy spaceship settings, lots of places for a dino to hide like the aliens did. Except that isn't a dinosaur's M.O. They don't hide, they walk up and bite whatever catches their eye. Dinos aren't crafty or big thinkers, they're just big.
My hopes for this movie are dwindling as time goes on. I ought to see it quick before my hopes sink any lower. I'm still excited to see it, but that probably, honestly, isn't going to happen. I don't really get to make those kinds of decisions. I really wanted to go see Guardians of the Galaxy, and I asked for weeks, but it never happened. Instead, my bf had a friend pick up the dvd so we could watch it at home. It was nice, but still a disappointment. I wanted to GO see it and I was very specific.

I saw this movie last night. It doesn't recapture the magic of the original but as has already been said it is probably the best of the sequels. Chris Pratt is really good in this film and is half the reason it is an enjoyable as it is.

My only real issue was the Indominus Rex itself, it just didn't feel as threatening as what the characters kept making it out to be.

Guess what? I GOT TO SEE JURASSIC WORLD IN THE THEATER! I know I'm being a total little kid about it, but I'm really excited! The movie was good, and I had a great time. I thought it was the best of the sequels, though not as good as the first. There were some pretty big plot holes, but the movie was really fun anyway, and it had a lot of awesome-looking dinosaurs. The entire movie was visually fantastic. I agree that they didn't really give the Indominus Rex any dangerous feel to it; other than fancy, unbelievable parlor tricks, it didn't do anything that a rogue T-Rex couldn't have done. Chris Pratt was great (and is looking good!), and I liked the lady.

Did anyone else think that maybe the younger kid (his name was Gray) is autistic? He knows the complicated names of the dinosaurs, his room is filled with dinosaur toys, and he gets so excited to see everything that he runs ahead and doesn't care if the exhibit is for little kids. He goes on and on and never notices when someone is bored or isn't listening. He knew exactly how long it would take to get to the airport, and he wanted to know the size of the island in pounds. He wears a fanny pack, possibly a sensory protection kit (except he never used it)? He follows every rule and does what the adults tell him even if it doesn't make a lot of sense. His brother knows to protect him in ways that a normal kid wouldn't need (like knowing when he's doing too much teasing or when the little brother is starting to get overwhelmed). Did anyone else notice that?
So much of that is just like me when I was his age.
I was a rule-follower, especially when I was younger. My special interest wasn't dinosaurs, but if it had been, I would have known all their names and how to correctly pronounce them. I used to (and still do) go on and on about stuff and never noticed when someone got bored. I loved a lot of things that were not age-appropriate, but if I was interested, I didn't care. I still don't. At the zoo, they sometimes have activities for kids where you can touch the animals or see them up close; I'm 32 and I stand in line with the 5-year-olds so I can do it, too. Last year, I got to feed a giraffe a lettuce leaf. It was AWESOME!

Apparently, Gray (the younger kid) IS autistic! Originally, his autism was specifically mentioned in the movie, but they cut that line. He still has all the autistic traits that were written for him, and they're pretty accurate IMO, it just isn't specifically mentioned.

Here is an article that talks about it.

I don't understand why movie and TV makers think they can't ever mention that anyone is autistic, even when they're obviously written that way? Instead, they always want to say the character is 'a little odd.' I think it would have been great to have an openly autistic character with accurately-portrayed traits in a huge movie like this. All they had to do was mention one time that he is autistic, and it would have been so great for autism support. It's still cool, though.

Well, I like the lampshade hanging/justified trope part regarding the appearence of the dinosaurs not matching how they would have actually appeared ("We *always* fill in the blanks with foreign DNA"). So they don't have feathers, not because they didn't have feathers originally, but because people don't imagine them as having feathers.

I actually liked the film. Also, the whole "dinosaurs take over" part comes in the sequal, with the Indominusraptor.

Saw this on Father's Day, and had a lot of fun with it. I was expecting it to be less fun or too overhyped to be fun, but I loved raptor guy.

The Mosasaurus stole the show for me, as did the T. Rex.

I almost thought there wasn't going to be a T-rex... but what kind of a movie would that have been?

I think my favorite moment was when Blue looked Chris Pratt in the eyes and was like "everybody gets one"

Nope. That's our reality. :?

True for me, too. As someone captivated by dinosaurs, the Mosasaurus was especially fascinating. Especially at the end!
