It. I know that sounds crazy. I watched that movie when I was nine and I have had a fear of clowns ever since.

While pretty much a literal adaption, it still didn't do the book justice, which I found to be scarier.

The first half of Event Horizon terrified me as a teenager. Even though many of its most chilling moments are nothing more than jump scares, I found it to be an effective deep space horror movie.

That would be my second choice

I'm not usually scared by any horror films these days, but The Gorgon, a 1965 Hammer film, made me a bit apprehensive at certain points.

There's a moment in this film which might take you aback if you're not prepared for it as well:

When I was a little kid the mutant guy in The Goonies scared the living crap out of me.

Village of the Damned (1995). Can still picture scenes from this movie clearly, though it has been more than ten years since I've seen it.

The Exorcist or anything with demonic possession. That scares the s**t out of me.

This might be due to the fact that I watched then when I was pretty young (12-14), but The Fog, Flatliners and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978 ) stand out to me.

In general, horror movies leave me cold. However, The Exorcist made me poop eggrolls as a kid.

For some reason, Jason and the Argonauts, Logans Run, The Others and the Haunting, were all pretty scary in their own way. Mythical creatures, a death circle and a dead family who don’t know they’re dead, and neither do we, including evil spirits until the end, all drum up fear and mistrust.

No, I've seen the up to date version, and that was nothing compared to this latest one, the trailer was enough.

Here oh, btw it's (not for children), so hide behind the sofa. 'Literally'.

Today I'm not scared by horror movies but a few years ago I thought that Coraline was terrifying. Like - it was supposed to be a children's movie but I didn't see it as one.
